FOR SALE: 1962 Chevrolet Corvette 327/360 Fuelie

Powered by a numbers-matching fuel-injected 327-cubic-inch V8

The Chevrolet Corvette’s transformation into a legitimate American sports car began in 1955 when Chevrolet replaced the original six-cylinder engine with a new V8. While the added performance significantly improved the model’s reputation, the real breakthrough arrived a year later with the extensively redesigned 1956 Corvette.

The updated car combined stronger performance with greater practicality, offering features that made it suitable for everyday use. Real glass roll-up windows, exterior door handles, a more effective convertible top, improved cabin ergonomics, enhanced insulation, and better sound deadening elevated comfort and usability without compromising sporting character.

Its fresh styling, highlighted by two-tone paint schemes and generous chrome detailing, created a distinctly American interpretation of the sports car formula. The result was a steady rise in sales that carried the first-generation Corvette through its final production year in 1962 before the arrival of the all-new Sting Ray in 1963.

Representing the final evolution of the original Corvette, this 1962 example, listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, spent much of its life in New Hampshire and Maine before relocating to Central New York under current ownership in 2016.

Between 2018 and 2019, the car underwent an extensive refurbishment by Performance Auto Body in Amsterdam, New York, documented through approximately 40 pages of records. Finished in white over a black vinyl interior, it is powered by Chevrolet’s highly desirable fuel-injected 327-cubic-inch V8, factory rated at 360 horsepower, paired with a four-speed manual transmission.

The restoration included refinishing the body, re-chroming exterior trim and bumpers, updating numerous interior components, and repairing a hood crack in early 2026 before repainting. Additional features include a removable hardtop, black soft top, power windows, Wonder Bar AM radio, heater, simulated knock-off wheel covers, and a Positraction limited-slip differential with 4.11:1 gearing.

Together, these elements showcase one of the most refined and performance-focused examples of the first-generation Corvette, combining period-correct styling with the mechanical specification that helped cement the model’s legendary status.
