FOR SALE: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe Restomod

LS3-powered 1963 Corvette Sting Ray restomod with Art Morrison chassis

Now offered for sale on Bring a Trailer, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray combines the landmark design of the second-generation C2 with a thoroughly modernized chassis and powertrain. As the debut year for the C2, 1963 introduced the Corvette’s distinctive styling along with significant advances in aerodynamics, steering, braking, and suspension. This example retains the character of the original split-window coupe while incorporating extensive performance-oriented upgrades.

Originally finished in Ermine White, the fiberglass body was repainted silver under previous ownership and is complemented by a blue leather interior. Exterior modifications include enlarged rear wheel tubs, fender vents, chrome bumperettes, custom exhaust bezels, and Detroit Speed electric headlight motors. Staggered Curtis Speed alloy wheels, measuring 18 inches at the front and 19 inches at the rear, echo the appearance of the factory hubcaps and are wrapped in 235/40 front and 325/30 rear Diamondback whitewall tires.

The car is built around an Art Morrison chassis featuring tubular front A-arms, independent rear suspension with tubular control arms, adjustable coilovers at all four corners, and front and rear sway bars. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering improves response, while Wilwood six-piston calipers, ventilated four-wheel discs, a Wilwood master cylinder, and stainless-steel brake lines provide substantially enhanced stopping performance.

Under the hood sits a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 fitted with a Holley/Lokar intake and air tube designed to mimic the appearance of Rochester mechanical fuel injection, along with period-style valve covers. Supporting hardware includes a Holley mid-mount serpentine drive, DeWitts aluminum radiator, American Racing long-tube headers, GM Performance ECU, Rick’s stainless-steel fuel tank, and an American Autowire harness. Power is transmitted through a Silver Sport 4L60 four-speed automatic gearbox, Performance Driveline driveshaft, and 3.73:1 limited-slip differential, with spent gases exiting through a custom 3-inch stainless-steel exhaust.

Inside, blue leather bucket seats from Al Knoch Interiors are paired with matching door panels and carpeting. Modern conveniences include Vintage Air climate control, Dynamat insulation, an Ididit tilt column, wood-rimmed steering wheel, Dakota Digital RTX gauges, lap belts, analog clock, and a factory-style Bluetooth stereo. A faux 36-gallon big-tank cover completes the rear cargo area, blending classic Corvette aesthetics with contemporary usability.
