Strong sales continued in 1965 and Chevy pushed hard on production, growing sales volume for the third year in a row. In total, 23,562 units of the 1965 model year produced.
A total of 35,310 Corvettes rolled off the end of the assembly line for the 2008 production model year, the fourth year of the C6 generation Corvette. Production volumes fell slightly in 2008 (down from 40,561 units in 2007).
In 1955 hopes were high for big growth in Corvette production (north of 10,000 units were predicted). It turned out to be a horrible year and almost caused the death of the model. Only 700 units were produced in 1955.
Despite a generally dismal sales year for the entire automotive industry, Corvette continued to do well with 40,606 units sold that year.
Overall, sales of the Chevy Corvette dropped slightly in 1990, with a total sales of 23,646 units. Despite this decrease in sales, it was a huge year thanks to the ZR-1.
After the popularity of the 1978 Pace Car and Silver Anniversary Editions in 1978, Corvette was about to set another production record – manufacturing more than 50,000 Corvettes in one year.
A total of 117,964 C2 Corvettes were produced over the five year production cycle for the second generation Corvette. A relatively short lived model the C2 sold a lot of convertibles at 72,418 units versus the 45,546 coupes made.
It seems as if much has been publicized in recent years regarding the rarest of Corvettes, which are steeped in nostalgia due to their scarcity. However, seldom is the story told of particular model years where production has peaked, and sales have flourished. Although these less than rare Corvettes are abundant in number, they carry their own legacy, just the same.
In 2001, a total of 35,627 Corvettes were produced. Production volume was strong in 2001 as cars continued to be churned out of the Bowling Green, KY facility.
The recession continued to impact Corvette production in 2011. A total of only 13,596 Corvettes rolled off the end of the assembly line for the 2011 production model year. That was slightly up from 2010s 12,194 units.
When combined with the extra-long model year, Corvette’s sales reached a total of 51,547 units – which was the second highest total in Corvette history.
The first year of C3 Corvette production got off to a strong start for Chevy. A total of 28,566 cars were made for model year 1968.
If the first few years of the C2 Corvette were strong sales years, 1966 blew it out of the ware. A total of 27,720 1966 model year cars were built.
In 2003 things continued at the same pace for the C5 production with no real slowdown (which is expected towards the end of the generation). A total of 35,469 Corvettes were produced in 2003.
In 2000, a total of 33,682 Corvettes were produced. Production volume was strong for the C5 production at Bowling Green, KY in 2000.
For the first time in several years, the 1989 model year would actually see an increase in the total sales numbers of the Chevrolet Corvette. Chevrolet sold a total of 26,412 Corvettes in 1989.
A total of 37,372 Corvettes rolled off the end of the assembly line for the 2005 production model year, the first year of the C6 generation Corvette. Production volumes jumped off to a great start for the C6.
Chevrolet sold 40,614 Corvettes in 1980, which was roughly a 20 percent decline in sales from the 1979 model year. At the same time, the numbers were still respectable.
The final year of the C3 Corvette was a solid one in terms of production. As expected production wound down and you can see that in the 25,407 units made.
Production and customer delivery of the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe began in September 2013. Corvette assembly plant tours in Bowling Green, Kentucky began in October 2013. In all, a total of 94,529 C7 Corvettes were sold.
For the 2020 model year, Chevrolet manufactured a total of 20,368 Corvettes. A decently strong year given everything going on the in the world. The Coupe was the most popular of the two models available with 82.4% of the 20,368 total.
The final year of production of the C1 model did not dampen demand for the Corvette, with a C1 record 14,531 units of the 1962 model year produced.
Despite these minimal changes to the car, the 1975 Corvette’s sales numbers continued to rise over the previous model year. In total, 38,465 Corvettes were sold that year.
In 2002, a total of 35,767 Corvettes were produced, which was the peak for the C5 models. Production volume was consistent as strong demand continued to drive C5 sales.
With production now recovered from the UAW strike, sales of the 1971 Corvette improved, resulting in a total of 21,801 Corvettes made for that model year.
For the 1987 model year, Corvette sales did continue to decline, although overall sales were still respectable with a total sales yield of 30,632 cars total
No changes were made to the mechanical packages and chassis of the 1959 Corvette versus the 1958 model year. Sales remained strong and a total of 9,670 cars were produced for the 1959 model year.
