Corvette History In The Dealer-Only Lanes: Rare C8 ZR1 Sighting & SIX C8 Z06s Battle

Episode 60 of CorvSport's most-followed exclusive series delivers a wholesale C8 Z06 showdown unlike any before, just our second C8 ZR1 1LZ Coupe, and expanded Dallas coverage that continues to reveal the true pulse of the Corvette market

We’ve reached a milestone: 60 episodes of revealing the underbelly of the wholesale world, with insights and data that only our resident retired dealer can give you. Behind every showroom sticker, every online listing, and every “great deal” sits a wholesale market that quietly sets the tone for everything that follows. Thanks to our in-house dealer—who spent 17 years navigating these dealer-only battlegrounds—we’ve been able to bring CorvSport readers exclusive insights from the lanes that shape tomorrow’s retail prices. And for Episode 60, we’re tackling one of the hottest debates in the Corvette community: just how strong is the used C8 Z06 market?

Discounts, Doubts, And A Wholesale Reality Check

Recent headlines have certainly fueled the conversation. We’ve seen brand-new C8 Z06s advertised at discounts of up to $15,000 off MSRP at one of the nation’s largest Chevrolet dealers. Conventional wisdom would suggest that kind of discounting should send shockwaves through the used market. But Corvette enthusiasts know better than to trust assumptions. That’s why we’re heading back to the scorching Dallas dealer-only lanes to see what dealers are actually willing to pay when real money is on the line. For the first time in our Curated Top 7 Spotlight, six C8 Z06s square off head-to-head, each handpicked by our in-house wholesale expert to tell the story behind today’s market.

The Return Of The ZR1

As if six Z06s weren’t enough excitement, our Top 7 also includes just the second C8 ZR1 1LZ Coupe we’ve ever tracked through these lanes. The last example crossed the block with fewer than 900 miles on the odometer and hammered for an eye-opening $212,500. This week’s contender arrives with an equally intriguing 881 miles showing. Will it challenge that benchmark? Surpass it? Or will the market send a different message entirely? The answer awaits in one of the most anticipated wholesale battles we’ve covered all year.

Drivers Versus Garage Queens

One of the reasons we love wholesale data is that every car tells a different story. This week’s lineup includes a 2025 Z06 that was actually used as intended, accumulating an impressive 14,450 miles. Meanwhile, another enthusiast took the opposite approach, separating from their 2023 Z06 after just 771 miles—barely enough to finish the break-in period. Not a single car in our Top 7 carries an accident history, but condition reports still tell an important tale. The high-mileage 2025 Z06 registers a respectable 4.3 out of 5.0, proving that use and condition don’t always move in lockstep.

SuperSeller Returns To The Arena

Another familiar face is back in the spotlight. SuperSeller Texas Auto Value (TAV) returns with five Corvettes in this week’s featured coverage, once again flexing its influence across the Dallas lanes. When one consignor accounts for that much inventory, their performance can offer valuable clues about dealer confidence, buyer demand, and where wholesale values may be headed next. As always, we’ll be watching every bid, every sale, and every surprise along the way.

Why Dallas Matters More Than Ever

If you’re wondering why wholesale data deserves your attention, the answer is simple: Those prices you see on the retail sales floors are determined way before the sticker is slapped on the windshield. Dealers are bidding with their own capital and credit lines, placing real-world bets on what they believe they can sell. And lately, those bets have been paying off. Our expanded Dallas coverage continues to prove just how hot this market remains. Since early March, Dallas sell-through rates have never fallen below 80%, peaking at an astonishing 96.7% on May 12, when 29 of 30 Corvettes offered found new homes on dealer lots. If the wholesale market is hot, and it has been, that means the Corvettes are flying off the lots!

Beyond today’s Top 7, our bonus market coverage now tracks more than 600 Corvette wholesale transactions dating back to October 23, 2025, complete with sales broken down by generation. The trends couldn’t be more different from what we see under the big tents at Mecum and Barrett-Jackson. We also have our full archive of all 59 episodes, so you can see the wholesale trends since February 2024. So buckle up—there’s plenty of wholesale fun waiting in the lanes ahead.

Top 7 Spotlight: Wholesale Dealer-Only Auction Activity Report

#7 — 2023 C8 Z06 Convertible 3LZ

771 Miles

Condition Report: 4.5/5.0

Autocheck History Report: 2 owners, 0 accidents

Announcements:

MMR Data:

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages:

Auction Results: Sold for $113,000

(Dealer Insights: How about that, folks?!? TAV comes out of the gate strong and hammers this pristine Z06 for $5,000 under MMR. I want you to look at those historical averages so you’ll notice that the wholesale value has gone up by $2,000 since last year! That said, this unit bucked the trend and will skew the average.)

#6 — 2025 C8 Z06 Coupe 3LZ

14,450 Miles

Condition Report: 4.3/5.0

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

Announcements:

MMR Data:

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages:

Auction Results: Sold for $113,000

(Dealer Insights: This sale came from our second SuperSeller, GiveMeTheVin, although we haven’t been featuring them as much recently, as they’ve been shifting to older generations. Nevertheless, at $2,000 under MMR, this was a good buy for a loaded up 3LZ. And that mileage didn’t scare off a soul!)

#5 — 2025 C8 Z06 Coupe 3LZ

7,001 Miles

Condition Report: 4.9/5.0

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

Announcements:

MMR Data:

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages:

Auction Results: Sold for $111,250

(Dealer Insights: At $11,750 under MMR, this could be our top bargain of the day. TAV came ready to sell today. As a matter of fact, I believe this is the largest spread between hammer price and MMR that we have ever seen in 60 episodes. We told you you’d have some fun today!)

#4 — 2025 C8 Z06 Coupe 3LZ

6,595 Miles

Condition Report: 4.7/5.0

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

Announcements:

MMR Data:

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages:

Auction Results: Sold for $127,500

(Dealer Insights: Whoa, throw a few desirable options with some cool ZR1 cloning, and we soared past MMR! Despite being near-identical on paper, this Z06 brought a whopping $16,250 more than the prior unit, with nearly the same mileage. Well, good for TAV, they got all the money!)

#3 — 2025 C8 Z06 Coupe 2LZ

2,245 Miles

Condition Report: 5.0/5.0

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

Announcements:

MMR Data:

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages:

Auction Results: Sold for $108,500

(Dealer Insights: TAV hammers this unit nearly right on the money. Those historical values are up from 6 months ago, but, understandably, down considerably since 2025.)

#2 — 2025 C8 Z06 Coupe 3LZ

1,125 Miles

Condition Report: 5.0/5.0

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

Announcements:

MMR Data:

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages:

Auction Results: NO SALE

(Dealer Insights: This no-sale is a bit bizarre, given that all of our prior Z06s, including all three of our 2025 3LZ Coupes, sold. TAV comes ready to sell, so we’ll consider this one an outlier. Was it something as simple as the graphics, or was TAV just buried in the unit?)

#1 — 2026 C8 ZR1 Coupe 1LZ

881 Miles

Condition Report: 5.0/5.0

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

Announcements: None

MMR Data:

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages:

Auction Results: Sold for $204,000!

(Dealer Insights: What an exciting finale for a fun wholesale report! As you can see, these C8 ZR1s are so rare at the dealer-only lanes that there simply isn’t enough transaction data to formulate an MMR or historical averages. It will be exciting to cover these in the coming years.)

The Final Word

History continues to be written in the wholesale lanes, and Episode 60 certainly lived up to the hype. Dallas delivered yet another spectacular performance, with 47 of the 52 Corvettes offered finding new homes on dealer lots—a remarkable 90.4% sell-through rate that reinforces why we keep coming back to this market. Our Curated Top 7 Spotlight wasn’t far behind either, posting an impressive 86% sell-through rate. And that C8 ZR1 1LZ Coupe? We are now two for two, proving that when these halo cars enter the wholesale arena, the excitement follows.

Did We Debunk The Z06 Market-Crashing Narrative?

The answer is both yes and no. If you came looking for proof that new-car discounts have sent the used C8 Z06 market into freefall, today’s numbers simply don’t support that conclusion. In fact, our very first Spotlight Z06 delivered one of the day’s biggest surprises. With historical averages sitting at $120,000 over the past 30 days, $111,000 six months ago, and $118,000 one year ago, wholesale values have actually climbed $2,000 compared to last year. As our dealer expert pointed out, “How about that, folks?!? …I want you to look at those historical averages so you’ll notice that the wholesale value has gone up by $2,000 since last year!” He was also quick to add an important caveat: “That said, this unit bucked the trend and will skew the average.” In other words, this was the exception—not the rule.

One Outlier Doesn’t Rewrite The Market

That unusual 2023 3LZ Convertible aside, the rest of our historical averages painted the picture we’d expect from a healthy performance car market. Values continue to experience normal year-over-year depreciation, even as demand remains exceptionally strong. That’s the real takeaway from today’s wholesale action. The C8 Z06 market isn’t immune to depreciation—it never was—but it also isn’t collapsing under the weight of MSRP discounts. Instead, it continues to find its footing with remarkable consistency, supported by dealers who remain willing to bid aggressively on the right cars.

A Record Bargain And More Wholesale History

Of course, Episode 60 wouldn’t be complete without one more unforgettable moment. One featured Corvette carried an MMR of $123,000 before astonishing everyone by hammering for just $111,250. That’s an incredible $11,750 below MMR. Our dealer expert didn’t hesitate to recognize what we had just witnessed: “At $11,750 under MMR, this could be our top bargain of the day… As a matter of fact, I believe this is the largest spread between hammer price and MMR that we have ever seen in 60 episodes. We told you you’d have some fun today!” Even after sixty wholesale reports, the dealer-only lanes are still capable of making history.

The Wholesale Story Continues

So where does that leave us? Right where we started—but with even more evidence. The C8 Z06 wholesale market remains one of the hottest segments in the Corvette world. Yes, aside from the historical-average anomaly we highlighted, the numbers continue to confirm steady and healthy depreciation over the past year. But don’t let that overshadow the bigger story. Our Curated Top 7 continues to outperform. The Dallas wholesale market remains absolutely red hot. And perhaps most importantly, C8 Corvettes continue to be the driving force behind dealer-only sales at Manheim. That’s why we keep coming back to these lanes. The headlines may start online, but the real story is still being written one hammer at a time.
