The fifth-generation Corvette marked a revolutionary leap for Chevrolet’s iconic sports car, while the sixth-generation C6 refined that formula with significant gains in performance, engineering, and overall sophistication. A prime example is this 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, now listed on Sotheby’s Motorsport. Combining a lightweight hydroformed aluminum chassis with a hand-built 7.0-liter LS7 V-8, it produced an impressive 505 horsepower, making it the fastest and most powerful production Corvette ever built at the time of its debut.
Having covered just 304 miles since leaving the Bowling Green assembly plant, this exceptionally preserved Z06 remains remarkably original. Equipped with the sought-after 2LZ Preferred Equipment Group, it is offered with its original keys, owner’s manuals, and factory window sticker. The naturally aspirated LS7 delivers 505 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 470 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm, paired with a six-speed manual transmission featuring a short-throw shifter and a limited-slip differential for an engaging driving experience.
Originally delivered through the Corvette Museum Delivery program, the car carried an original MSRP approaching $80,000 and was specified with factory navigation and polished aluminum Z06 wheels. Its Ebony and Red leather interior has been preserved in outstanding condition, while a BORLA performance exhaust enhances the unmistakable soundtrack of the hand-assembled V-8.
The Z06’s vacuum-operated dual-mode stainless-steel exhaust automatically adjusts for optimal airflow and delivers an exhilarating note all the way to its 7,000-rpm redline. Speed-sensitive rack-and-pinion steering, Active Handling, and lightweight polished aluminum wheels provide exceptional precision, while six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers grip massive cross-drilled rotors to confidently rein in its 190-plus-mph performance.
Finished in Machine Silver Metallic, the fixed-roof coupe features carbon-fiber composite front fenders and floor panels, along with a distinctive front splitter, wider fenders, and a taller rear spoiler that clearly distinguish it from the standard C6 Corvette. Inside, heated six-way power driver and manual passenger sport seats are trimmed in black and red leather with contrast stitching and embroidered Z06 logos.
Technology was equally advanced for its era, featuring a Bose premium AM/FM/XM audio system with a six-disc CD/MP3 changer and integrated navigation. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, power telescoping steering column, and fighter jet-inspired head-up display complete a cockpit designed to deliver an immersive, performance-focused driving experience.
