FOR SALE: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Restomod

Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8

Listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray split-window coupe represents the only model year to feature the iconic divided rear glass, making it one of the most sought-after foundations for modern restomod builds. This example was reportedly modified by Verrillo Motor Cars of Clifton Park, New York, combining the Corvette’s landmark styling with substantially upgraded mechanicals and contemporary performance technology.

At the heart of the build is a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 installed under previous ownership. The engine is equipped with exhaust headers, an aluminum radiator, and dual electric cooling fans, while power is delivered through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. A Street Shop chassis provides the structural foundation, incorporating adjustable coilovers at all four corners, rack-and-pinion power steering, upgraded front and rear control arms, and a custom frame-mounted differential housing.

Braking performance comes from four-wheel Wilwood discs, supported by a Wilwood master cylinder and an electric parking brake. The suspension and steering upgrades are complemented by a custom independent rear arrangement, giving the classic Corvette a far more contemporary chassis response than its original configuration.

The fiberglass body has been refinished in metallic black and subtly reworked with widened rear fenders, custom front-fender vents, and side-exit exhaust pipes. Classic details including flip-up headlamps, quad tail lamps, dual side mirrors, and chrome bumperettes remain intact. The car rides on 18-inch turbine-style wheels wrapped in Michelin tires.

Inside, C5-style power-adjustable bucket seats are upholstered in red and black leather, matched by a similarly trimmed dashboard and red-and-black carpeting. Modern conveniences include aftermarket air conditioning, power windows, a RetroSound stereo with upgraded speakers, and Dakota Digital instrumentation. A Dakota Digital analog clock is also integrated into the cabin. The flat-bottom steering wheel is mounted to a tilting Flaming River column and frames the digital gauges, while lap belts provide occupant restraint.

The result is a distinctly modern interpretation of the split-window Corvette, preserving its most recognizable design cues while introducing the powertrain, chassis sophistication, braking capability, and everyday amenities expected from a contemporary performance car.
