The last six digits begin at 100001 and run thru 133992. Early Z06 Corvettes (100001 thru 100162) had a Y engine code. Ending VIN (133992) did not match the total quantity of Corvettes built because 2006 production included 29 non-salable prototype builds. Each Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is unique to an individual car.
Check Digit is used to calculate the characters in the serial number and gives it a single digit code that can be used to verify the serial number is legitimate. (Note: The check digit number varies depending on each specific VIN number.)
