In a recent feature from Brink of Speed, viewers were given an unusually close look at one of the rarest C8 variants ever produced—a numbered Quail Edition ZR1X finished in a striking matte silver exterior and loaded with advanced hybrid performance technology. The car featured in the video is number of only 30 examples reportedly produced.
The Quail Edition traces its origins to Monterey Car Week, where Chevrolet unveiled the model at the prestigious Quail Lodge gathering. According to the owner, the opportunity to acquire the car came unexpectedly through Classic Chevrolet, where a last-minute allocation revealed the vehicle’s true identity only after details surrounding its special matte finish and mandatory orange brake calipers surfaced.
It features a hybrid all-wheel-drive setup pairs a front-mounted electric motor producing 186 horsepower with the twin-turbocharged LT7 V8 generating 1,064 horsepower at the rear, resulting in a combined output of 1,250 horsepower. Extensive exposed carbon fiber dominates the exterior, including the splitter, dive planes, side skirts, roof panel, and towering ZTK rear wing.
Inside, the Quail Edition features a highly customized cabin trimmed in Sky Cool Gray leather, Habanero stitching, carbon-fiber GT2 seats, and stealth-themed accents. Despite its immense performance capability, the owner described the ZR1X as the smoothest-riding Corvette he has owned, highlighting Chevrolet’s remarkable balance between hybrid refinement and raw supercar aggression.
