Crate Engines & Restomods

If you attend car shows and watch car auctions, you know that Restomods seem to be everywhere. In the arena of streetable cars (not race cars), there are basically three slots. Concours Restorations are old cars restored to day-one, factory-correct condition. At the opposite end are Custom Cars. These are “art”, mostly built to be seen and appreciated, and not driven that much. In between Concours Restorations and Custom Cars are the Restomods. These are cars that maintain the look of their era, but are modernized under the sheet metal.
