The Corvette Rumble And Loud Exhausts

What Vette nut doesn't love it?

Sometimes it feels like being a kid in a candy store when you see a beautiful Corvette that just sounds awesome. The owner throws an aftermarket exhaust on or maybe a cam, and your ears perk up just hearing it cruise by. Or maybe like in the case of the new C8, GM gets that V8 rumble and exhaust sound just right from the factory, especially with the new Z06.

Maybe it’s just me, but I get a little bit giddy when I hear the sweet sound of a loud rumbling-and-bumbling muscle car blasting past me. A little reflection reveals this affliction began with my very first car, a 1980 Rabbit (cloned to look like a GTI), that I threw ole school glass packs on.  And yes, I do know I am dating myself just a bit!

The other day I was reminded of one of my first YouTube videos from 12 years ago, where I modified a C5 Z06 titanium exhaust to sound more aggressive (by drilling holes before the mufflers!), and slapped it on my ‘99 Fixed Roof Coupe. I plopped the camera down behind the car and hurried back to the gas pedal, so I could do some high revs for the presentation of my new modified exhaust.

I can still listen to that video over a decade later and get a little bit excited, boy did it sound so good. Then not too much later, when I upgraded to the Corsa Indy Pace system, it was back to the camera for a new video!
