For eight demanding days, a preproduction 2027 Corvette Grand Sport took on One Lap of America, a competition that strings together timed track events with long interstate transits in between. By the time it was over, the Corvette team had turned an early points deficit into a seventh-place finish overall, second in the Stock GT class, and third in SS/GT1 Big Bore.

Unlike a traditional race weekend, One Lap requires competitors to drive the same car on public roads between venues, tackling wet and dry skid pads, speedway ovals, road courses, and autocross along the way. It is the ultimate test for machines that must be quick on track and livable on the highway.
What made the Grand Sport’s result especially impressive: it ran completely stock. Equipped with the available Z52 Sport Performance Package and Carbon Fiber Aero Package, the car podiumed in class without a single modification. Its 6.7-liter V8, Z06-derived wide-body stance, and sophisticated chassis did all the talking.

GM performance engineer Andrew Abbott, who co-drove with Michelin’s Andrew Simrell, summed it up after the final results were tallied: “The car was magical, and I can’t wait for our customers to experience what many consider the sweetheart of the Corvette lineup. The car ran flawlessly all week with zero issues.”
