Brink of Speed puts the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport head-to-head with a 2027 Corvette Stingray in a detailed comparison designed to answer a key question for buyers: does the Grand Sport justify its roughly $15,000 premium?
The most immediate distinction is the Grand Sport’s wider body, which gives it a substantially more aggressive stance. Beyond its additional width, the Grand Sport features a more substantial front-end treatment, larger openings, a painted Carbon Flash splitter and extended side rockers. Its larger brakes and deeper, concave wheel design further separate it visually from the Stingray. The Stingray, meanwhile, retains a cleaner and less aggressive appearance, although its styling remains unmistakably Corvette.
Underneath, the comparison is less dramatic. Both cars use the same LS6 V8, producing 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, meaning the Stingray does not sacrifice engine output despite its narrower body and lower price. The engine compartment itself is essentially unchanged between the two configurations.

Its larger brakes also provide a meaningful performance advantage, particularly once properly bedded in.
Ultimately, the Grand Sport’s primary advantages are its wider Z06-inspired appearance, upgraded braking hardware and additional exterior detailing. With comparable power and a refined driving experience, the Stingray offers considerably more value for buyers who prioritize performance-per-dollar. For those who specifically want the Grand Sport’s aggressive styling and hardware, however, the additional investment can be justified.
