Brooks Weisblat, host of DragTimes, has completed the initial preparation of his newly delivered Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, taking the 1,250-hp hybrid supercar to Blackout Tinting for an extensive paint-protection and detailing program. Delivered roughly 10 days earlier, the Torch Red ZR1X features black stripes, Carbon Flash accents, forged wheels, and the Carbon Fiber Aero Package.
The car received full-body XPEL Ultimate PPF, complemented by an eight-year ceramic coating applied across the paintwork, glass, wheels, and brake calipers. Ceramic window film was also installed, including treatment for the windshield and side windows. Particular attention was paid to the factory stripe graphics. Rather than applying PPF conventionally over the decals, the film was precisely separated between painted surfaces and stripe material to minimize visible edges and prevent dirt accumulation.
The detailing work also included removing the exterior badges before applying protective film underneath and reinstalling them afterward. This approach eliminates exposed PPF seams around the emblems, improving both appearance and long-term washability. Additional attention was given to the carbon-fiber front aero components, splitter, canards, and other high-impact areas.
One notable modification was removing the Carbon Flash stripe from the exposed carbon-fiber roof, revealing the underlying weave while retaining protection beneath it. The front license-plate mounting insert was also removed, opening the nose visually and improving airflow.
Weisblat’s ZR1X carries a $235,000 base price and approximately $271,000 in factory options and configuration. Key equipment includes the $12,995 Carbon Fiber Aero Package, front lift, Carbon Flash-finished forged wheels, carbon-fiber interior trim, sport bucket seats, red seat belts and stitching, red-painted Alcon front calipers, Stealth Interior Package, Carbon Flash mirrors, and other appearance upgrades. The car notably forgoes the $16,000 carbon-fiber wheels and ZTK package.
With its twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8, front electric motor and all-wheel drive, the ZR1X is rated at 1,250 horsepower. Weisblat has already recorded an 8.7-second quarter-mile pass and plans further testing, including high-speed running with the rear wing and front canards removed to reduce aerodynamic drag.
