Chevrolet used the National Corvette Museum’s annual Bash event over the weekend to share some fresh lap time news: the 2027 ZR1X is now the fastest production car around both NCM Motorsports Park and Sonoma Raceway.
At NCM, Corvette Vehicle Dynamics Engineer Drew Cattell put down a 2:02.11, clearing the previous record of 2:02.86 that had been set by a McLaren Senna. At Sonoma, Chassis Controls Engineer Cody Bulkley ran a 1:34.17, beating the prior mark of 1:34.94 set by a ZR1.

Both laps are worth a second look given who was behind the wheel. The Senna’s time was set by professional racing driver Andy Pilgrim. The Sonoma record it replaced was set by SCCA Hall of Famer Randy Pobst. Cattell and Bulkley’s day jobs are in engineering. Cattell is also the same person who drove the ZR1X to its 6:49.275 Nürburgring lap.
For anyone coming in fresh, the ZR1X combines a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 with a front-axle electric motor for 1,250 combined horsepower and AWD. Both record runs were done with the optional aero package fitted, which produces 1,200 pounds of downforce. The 2027 model starts at $227,395.
