Welcome to CorvSport’s 43rd installment of our exclusive dealer-to-dealer wholesale reports, where we visit the largest dealer-only auction in the country and handpick seven Corvettes to highlight. Today, we have a fun lineup, with six Z06s and a bonus 2026 ZR1 that has found its way to the wholesale auction. If you’ve been following along, we have been rotating between the Florida and Texas wholesale markets, and today is our first week back in Texas. We wanted to heat things up, and we hope this dedicated Z06 edition, complete with a bonus 2026 ZR1, will do the job. As with all our exclusive market features, this wholesale market report is FREE and not behind a paywall. When any pop-ups appear, please click to dismiss them and continue enjoying the article.

The C8 ZR1 market has been interesting to watch, with dealer markups that make the early C8 Z06s look like child’s play. The markups have been so ridiculously high that popular YouTuber and enthusiast Justin with HorsePower Obsessed has done a detailed breakdown on the offending dealers. We have his summary and video below today’s Corvettes.

Things to look for today at the wholesale auction:

  • How many Z06s will our superseller, GiveMeTheVin (GMTV), sell? They have five running through today’s auction and bill themselves as the “USA’s #1 Wholesale Distributor.”
  • As we return to Texas, will its sales ratio beat the dismal 43% Florida generated over the last seven weeks?
  • How many of our six Z06s will sell? More importantly, will one of the first C8 ZR1s to hit the wholesale auction sell?

A Quick Review Of The Process:

In preparation for each installment, I handpick a list of Corvettes from that week’s runlist that catch my eye. As a retired owner/operator of a used car dealership, I’ll use my 17 years of experience (and industry access) to give you insights into the market. My search is focused on the nation’s largest dealer-only wholesale auction, and all the Corvettes featured to date are from the Texas or Florida market. Corvettes often end up at a dealer-only wholesale auction for several reasons, but most are trade-ins that the dealer has decided not to retail on their lot. Some may also be repossessions or coming off leases. It’s also common for dealers to dump problem (or slow-selling) units at an auction.

For Fun (and Insights):

Compare the MMR (estimated wholesale value) to the actual hammer price (if sold). It’s also interesting to compare the wholesale purchase price (if it sells) to the Cox Automotive estimated retail value, as this will give you an idea of the margins used-car dealerships are working with.

The CorvSport Conclusion:

The results are in, with five of the seven Corvettes hammering off to a new dealer! That 71% blows away Florida’s 7-week average of 43%. And, GiveMeTheVin held its own, with four of its five offerings selling. With zero C8 Z06s selling, we believe dealers are still spooked by the fire risk recall and recent stop sale, despite the recent remedy being issued. Thank you for joining CorvSport today. We look forward to seeing you in two weeks to see whether Corvette sales remain hot in Texas.
