This AutotopiaLA video dives into a custom 1971 C3 Corvette powered by a 643 hp LT1-based V8. Shawn Davis and the owner walk through the three-year build, emphasizing drivability while keeping the classic C3 look intact. The car is heavily reworked, from a completely updated suspension to a TKO five-speed manual.

Originally a numbers-matching LT1 car, the owner replaced the factory setup with a built 406ci, all-motor small-block that makes 643 hp and 595 lb-ft on pump gas. It’s fully old-school and carbureted, but tuned to be a reliable, street-friendly performer.

Modern comforts include air conditioning, power steering, ADP headers, a full stainless 3-inch Magnaflow exhaust, Detroit Speed electric headlights, and upgraded wipers. The chassis has been reengineered with Van Steel suspension components and coilovers at all four corners, and the frame is notched and partially boxed to fit 285s in the rear. Power goes through a TKO five-speed to a reinforced stock rear end with 3.55 gears. Sit back—this ’71 C3 restomod absolutely rips.
