Widely regarded as one of the most desirable second-generation Corvettes ever built, the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe combined revolutionary styling with significant engineering advancements. Its iconic split rear window design, offered for a single model year only, has become one of the most recognizable features in Corvette history.
Under the direction of engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, Chevrolet introduced an all-new independent rear suspension that dramatically improved handling and refinement, helping the Corvette better compete with leading European sports cars. Demand was strong, with total 1963 production reaching a record 21,513 units, including 10,594 coupes and 10,919 convertibles.
Offered for sale on Bring a Trailer, this particular 1963 Corvette Coupe is among just 2,610 examples equipped with the highly sought-after fuel-injected 327-cubic-inch V8. Built during the second month of C2 Corvette production, the car reportedly underwent a refurbishment in the early 2000s.
Originally finished in Ermine White, the fiberglass body was later repainted in red. Distinctive exterior elements include concealed flip-up headlights, fender vents, quad taillights, chrome bumperettes, and dual exhaust outlets integrated into the rear valance.
The turbine-style 15-inch wheels feature knock-off spinners and are fitted with Michelin X redline tires. The chassis retains the C2’s pioneering fully independent suspension setup, complemented by a front sway bar, upgraded bushings, shocks, and a transverse rear leaf spring. Braking is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black with restored bucket seats, matching carpets, and coordinated door panels. Amenities include a heater, AM radio, lap belts, and an analog clock. Instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a 6,500-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring vital engine functions.
Power comes from the Rochester mechanical fuel-injected 327 V8 rated at 360 horsepower, paired with a four-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels through a dual exhaust system fitted with Borla mufflers.
