In a series of drag races hosted by Mat Watson from carwow, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 faces off against two American V8 rivals: the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the Mustang Dark Horse.
The Z06’s 5.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-plane V8 delivers 670 hp and 625 Nm to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox with launch control. The Demon’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 produces 819 hp and 972 Nm through an 8-speed automatic, while the Mustang’s 5.0-liter V8 makes 507 hp and 567 Nm with a 10-speed automatic.
The races cover rolling starts, brake tests, and standing quarter-mile sprints. Traction is a key challenge—particularly for the Demon, which struggles to harness its power. The Mustang launches reliably but lacks the punch to compete, while the Corvette combines strong acceleration with better grip and balance.
Thanks to its dual-clutch transmission and well-balanced setup, the Corvette consistently outperformed the others, quickly recovering from any wheelspin. Final quarter-mile times show the Corvette finishing first at 12.2 seconds, the Demon close behind at 12.4 seconds, and the Mustang trailing at 12.8 seconds. Overall, the Corvette Z06 proves the most effective drag racer, blending power, traction, and consistency.
