1) Wards 10 Best: High Accolades For The LT7, Are We Really Surprised?

CorvSport’s Hot Take: We’ve done many features on the ZR1’s LT7, like our CorvSport Tech Spotlight: What Makes The LT7 In The 2025 Corvette ZR1 So Special? So, unless you’ve been living under a rock, it should be no surprise that the 1,064 HP beast is going to garner some awards–here is the first.

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “The one purely ICE engine on this year’s list is none other than GM’s twin-turbo 5.5L V8 LT7 that powers the mighty Chevy Corvette ZR1.”
  • “The stunning LT7 makes the C8 ZR1 the first Corvette with a four-digit horsepower rating from the factory.”
  • “Since Wards is impressed with the LT7 and likes hybrids so much, we have a good feeling about the hybrid setup in the C8 ZR1X earning a spot on the 2026 list.”

The Article From GMAuthority

“The 2025 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list is out, and nine of the 10 winners are either hybrid engines or all-electric powertrains. The one purely ICE engine on this year’s list is none other than GM’s twin-turbo 5.5L V8 LT7 that powers the mighty Chevy Corvette ZR1.

‘As the auto industry moves away from near-term timelines for all-electric propulsion, U.S. consumers are more than ever embracing electrification, namely in the form of hybridization,’ says Christie Schweinsberg, manager of Wards 10 Best awards programs. ‘The hybrid winners on our 2025 list strike a perfect balance of power, fuel economy, and value. They are also some of the most technically complex powertrains we’ve ever tested, once again showcasing the talent of automotive engineers to deliver alluring specifications, oftentimes with limited budgets.’

The stunning LT7 makes the C8 ZR1 the first Corvette with a four-digit horsepower rating from the factory. It’s essentially a twin-turbo version of the LT6 that powers the C8 Z06. In addition to the turbos, upgrades over the LT6 include stronger pistons and rods, bigger combustion chambers, a lower-volume intake manifold, and both direct and port injection for a total of 16 injectors. The Corvette ZR1 makes 1,064 horsepower and 828 pound-feet of torque…” READ MORE AT GMAuthority

2) Enthusiasts Dreaming of a Z06 or ZR1 Can Commence Shopping

CorvSport’s Hot Take: Back in early June, CorvSport was one of the first publications to cover the mystery of C8 Z06s exploding while refueling. After a nationwide recall and stop-sale of all C8 Z06s and ZR1s, better news is coming our way.

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “Now, the two Corvette variants are back on Chevy’s online inventory, yielding hundreds of results for the 2025 and 2026 model years nationwide.”
  • “The stop-sale order stemmed from a voluntary safety recall related to a potential fire hazard during refueling. According to recall campaign N252514930, certain Z06 and ZR1 models equipped with a left-side radiator and fan assembly could be at risk if excess fuel spilled into the filler pocket makes contact with a nearby ignition source.”
  • “Looking at the search results across the U.S. on the Chevy online inventory tool, over 800 Z06 models are available as of this writing. However, most are marked with ‘in transit’ status rather than ‘available now.’ Available Z06 models span the 2025 and 2026 model years, while every ZR1 that shows up in the results is a refreshed 2026 model. All but one of the ZR1 models are ‘in transit.’”

The Article From GMAuthority

“We reported last month on GM pulling all available Corvette Z06 and Corvette ZR1 models from its online inventory tool, effectively halting new sales of the two high-performance variants. Now, the two Corvette variants are back on Chevy’s online inventory, yielding hundreds of results for the 2025 and 2026 model years nationwide.

The inventory search change was initially made following a recall and stop-sale action impacting specific units of the 2023 through 2026 Corvette. The stop-sale order stemmed from a voluntary safety recall related to a potential fire hazard during refueling. According to recall campaign N252514930, certain Z06 and ZR1 models equipped with a left-side radiator and fan assembly could be at risk if excess fuel spilled into the filler pocket makes contact with a nearby ignition source.

GM responded to the reported issue by asking dealers to install a shield or insert designed to redirect spilled fuel safely away from the area in question. The fuel spill issue only impacted the Z06 and ZR1 variants; the Stingray and E-Ray were unaffected…” READ MORE AT GMAuthority

3) Selling Already?!? Say It Isn’t So…

CorvSport’s Hot Take: Back when I was buying brand new Corvettes like changing underwear, I did at least manage to keep them until the 36k warranty was about to run out. But Matt, a GM technician for 19 years, apparently felt like 2,400 miles was enough before moving on from his dream C8 Z06. While Matt doesn’t cite specific reasons, my guess is that he wants to dump his Z06 before its value drops too much and eventually pick up a C8 ZR1.

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “After purchasing his brand-new Z06 Coupe in March 2024, driving it just 2,400 miles, and adding a few subtle upgrades, he is now ready to let it go and move on to some other Corvette.”
  • “Working on GM products daily, he knew exactly what he wanted from his latest purchase: the pinnacle of Corvette engineering, a car designed to rival Europe’s best on track and road alike. So this is what he is looking for in his next purchase, too.”
  • “Matt’s car benefits from a handful of tasteful modifications. A Paragon Performance lowering kit and rear wheel spacers improve stance, while Scrape Armor guards protect the front end. The exterior has been professionally paint-corrected and ceramic-coated, with window tint adding to its sleek appearance.”

The Article From AutoEvolution

“For most enthusiasts, the dream of owning Chevrolet’s latest Corvette Z06 ends with months of waiting lists and dealer markups. For Matt, a General Motors technician for 19 years, it was reality, at least for a little while. After purchasing his brand-new Z06 Coupe in March 2024, driving it just 2,400 miles, and adding a few subtle upgrades, he is now ready to let it go and move on to some other Corvette.

Matt is no stranger to America’s sports car. ‘I have owned several Corvettes from all generations now,’ he explains, underscoring his long-standing loyalty to the nameplate. Working on GM products daily, he knew exactly what he wanted from his latest purchase: the pinnacle of Corvette engineering, a car designed to rival Europe’s best on track and road alike. So this is what he is looking for in his next purchase, too.

This particular 2024 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is finished in black over a Jet Black interior, with seats, dashboard, and door panels wrapped in Nappa leather and Alcantara featuring contrasting red stitching and red seatbelts. The driver decides which way to go by holding a flat-bottomed steering wheel in carbon fiber and leather, with the 12 o’clock marked in red. The color combo gives it a stealthy, aggressive presence and confirms its sports car DNA…” READ MORE AT AutoEvolution
