If you’ve never joined us for our exclusive dealer-to-dealer wholesale market reports, today is the day! Now you can take the guesswork out when discussing the Corvette markets with your enthusiast friends–CorvSport has you covered. As a retired used-car dealer with 17 years of experience, I will utilize my access and knowledge to provide you with data that no one else has. As with all our exclusive market features, this wholesale market report is FREE and not behind a paywall. When any pop-ups appear, please click to dismiss them and continue enjoying the article.

For a refresher, we are currently on our Florida redemption tour. After the Florida dealers sold only 30% of their Corvettes to new dealers, we relocated to Texas to rev up the sales. After gathering data from 19 auction days spread over 35 weeks, Texas managed to sell 69% of the Corvettes we featured. We have every installment archived below, including the redemption tour that began in early July.

Things to look for today at the wholesale auction:

  • How many C8s will our superseller, BD Auto Liquidators (BDAL), sell? He has six running through today’s auction.
  • Can Florida beat their dismal 29% successful sales ratio from our last report two weeks ago?
  • Will a dealer pick up the 2024 E-Ray with 16k miles? Retail E-Ray sales have been relatively flat.

A Quick Review Of The Process:

In preparation for each installment, I handpick a list of Corvettes from that week’s runlist that catch my eye. As a retired owner/operator of a used car dealership, I’ll use my 17 years of experience (and industry access) to give you insights into the market. My search is focused on the nation’s largest dealer-only wholesale auction, and all the Corvettes featured to date are from the Texas or Florida market. Corvettes often end up at a dealer-only wholesale auction for several reasons, but most are trade-ins that the dealer has decided not to retail on their lot. Some may also be repossessions or coming off leases. It’s also common for dealers to dump problem (or slow-selling) units at an auction.

For Fun (and Insights):

Compare the MMR (estimated wholesale value) to the actual hammer price (if sold). It’s also interesting to compare the wholesale purchase price (if it sells) to the Cox Automotive estimated retail value, as this will give you an idea of the margins used-car dealerships are working with.

20,452 Miles

Condition Report: 4.9/5.0

(Insights: This isn’t a good start for our superseller BDAL. Despite being “resell red” and looking good on paper, no dealers were interested in retailing this Stingray on their lot.)

#5

2023 C8 Stingray Coupe 1LT

5,409 Miles

Condition Report: 4.6/5.0

Announcements: 3rd Party Seller

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

MMR: $61,400

(Based on Cox Automotive retail transactions)

Auction Results: NO SALE

(Insights: BDAL fails again. While looking at previous auction sales, I noticed this Stingray sold at the Lakeland location for $59,750 just weeks ago, so it looks like BD was trying to flip this at the more popular Orlando location.)

#4

2024 C8 Stingray Coupe 3LT

17,474 Miles

Condition Report: 4.5/5.0

Announcements:

Autocheck History Report: 2 owners, 0 accidents

MMR: $69,500

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages

  • Past 30 Days: $74,100 (7,461 average miles)

  • Last Year: $77,300 (2,130 mi)

Estimated Retail Value: $72,400

(Based on Cox Automotive retail transactions)

Auction Results: NO SALE

(Insights: This C8 looks good in the pictures and on paper, so it’s likely that BDAL’s reserve was too high for the market on this day.)

#3

2024 C8 E-Ray Coupe 3LZ

16,609 Miles

Condition Report: 4.8/5.0

Announcements:

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages

  • Last Year: $116,000 (5,199 mi)

Estimated Retail Value: Not Available

(Based on Cox Automotive retail transactions)

Auction Results: NO SALE

(Insights: Could this color have turned off dealers? As a fan of the E-Ray, I was hoping BDAL would hammer this one off to a new dealer.)

#2

2024 C8 Stingray Coupe 3LT

3,807 Miles

Condition Report: 4.4/5.0

Announcements: 3rd Party Seller

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

Historical Wholesale Averages

  • Past 30 Days: $74,100 (7,461 average miles)
  • 6 Months Ago: $71,400 (7,570 mi)
  • Last Year: $77,300 (2,130 mi)

Estimated Retail Value: $77,100

(Based on Cox Automotive retail transactions)

Auction Results: NO SALE

(Insights: This is another love-or-hate color–could that have turned off today’s dealers? It’s also possible that BDAL’s reserves are just too high this week.)

#1

2025 C8 Stingray Convertible 3LT

14,898 Miles

Condition Report: 4.4/5.0

Announcements: 3rd Party Seller

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

Historical Wholesale Averages

  • Past 30 Days: Not available
  • 6 Months Ago: $85,800 (1,156 mi)
  • Last Year: Not available

Estimated Retail Value: $85,900

(Insights: BDAL attempted to wholesale this 2025 C8 two weeks ago, with no luck. I’m sure the higher miles and low condition report are not helping things.)

Summary: It’s official, we are heading back to Texas to see if we can heat things up again. Are Florida’s sales dismal due to the beginning of fall, or are the dealers who buy Corvettes just not showing up? Another possibility is that retail C8 sales are slowing down. Our superseller, BD Auto Liquidators, hit gooseeggs today, with none of his six Corvettes selling. Well, if you’re around the water cooler and the subject comes up, you can tell your ‘Vette nut friends that the wholesale market in Florida is nearly ice-cold! Thank you for joining CorvSport today. We look forward to seeing you in two weeks as we travel back to the Lone Star State!
