Island Dragway in New Jersey hosted a classic American performance duel as the Dodge Hellcat Challenger faced off against the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in a high-stakes quarter-mile run filmed by the folks from Import 2 Race on YouTube.
The Hellcat comes with its trademark brute-force power from a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 producing 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque, with Redeye variants capable of 797 to 807 horsepower. Weighing over 4,400 pounds, the Challenger relies on raw thrust and massive torque to deliver quarter-mile times in the low 11-second range.
In the opposite lane, the Corvette Z06 countered with a lightweight, track-bred approach. Its 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 delivers 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, pushing roughly 3,500 pounds with far better aerodynamics. With its sharper chassis, quick-shifting 8-speed automatic or available 7-speed manual, the Z06 regularly runs the quarter mile between 10.9 and 11.2 seconds.
