The legendary L88 may have ended its production run in 1969, but Chevrolet engineers continued to push boundaries in 1970 with the introduction of the ultra-rare ZR1 Corvette. Designed for serious SCCA production-class and autocross competitors, the ZR1 remains highly prized among discerning Corvette collectors.
This lightweight, track-oriented variant was powered by the high-revving, solid-lifter LT1 350/370 HP V8—a costly $447.60 option at the time. The complete ZR1 package, priced at $968.95 (rising to $1,010.05 by 1972), included the M22 “Rock Crusher” close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission, heavy-duty brakes, transistorized ignition, an aluminum radiator with a metal fan shroud, and a competition-grade suspension with upgraded springs, shocks, and stabilizer bars.
This NCRS Top Flight Award-winning 1970 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is now offered at no reserve on Bring a Trailer and is powered by the aforementioned LT1 350/370 HP LT1 V-8 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission.
One of just 25 built for the model year—it features a Corvette Bronze exterior over a black interior with bucket seats and a center console. Additional equipment includes chrome bumpers, dual exhaust, removable roof panels, and 15″ rally wheels.
