Jay Leno recently received his personal 2026 Corvette ZR1X, and it’s already proving its dominance with an 8.6-second quarter mile and a blistering 0–60 mph time of 1.6 seconds. He calls it the best high-performance value ever made.
In the newest episode Jay Leno’s Garage, Leno is joined by Mark Reuss to break down the engineering behind the C8 ZR1X. Despite costing far less than European supercars, Leno notes it can outperform many of them. The car combines a flat-plane crank V8 with front-axle electrification, adding 187 horsepower to the front wheels. Reuss himself verified its capability at speeds up to 233 mph.
Leno highlights his custom-spec car, featuring racing seats, carbon fiber wheels, and massive carbon ceramic brakes with 10-piston calipers. Even at limited throttle during break-in, he describes the car as incredibly stable, powerful, and refined—so capable that fully using its performance on public roads is nearly impossible.
