Joe Raiti Suggests Adding Manual Gearbox To The C8 Grand Sport

How a manual transmission could redefine the C8 Corvette Grand Sport

In his recent video, automotive journalist Joe Raiti from Raiti’s Rides on YouTube took a moment to address a subject that’s been simmering among Corvette enthusiasts: the absence of a manual transmission in the modern C8 generation.

His solution: a manual-only Grand Sport based on the Stingray platform. Joe argued that such a model could strike a balance between accessibility and engagement. Built around the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V8, which produces 495 horsepower, the car can be equipped with the Z51 performance package, a manual gearbox, and subtle styling cues to distinguish it, such as fender hash marks, a pedestal rear wing, and split quad exhausts.

The concept makes sense from a design and production standpoint. The Stingray already offers a balanced chassis, stunning styling, and impressive dynamics. By removing the dual-clutch automatic and adding a traditional gear lever, Chevrolet could create a more affordable, enthusiast-focused variant that stands apart from the Z06 and ZR1.

In an era dominated by automatic and electric performance, Chevrolet has an opportunity to do something bold yet refreshingly traditional. A manual C8 Grand Sport wouldn’t just be a car—it would be a statement: that driving passion still matters. Now the question is: will Chevrolet really make a new C8 Corvette with a manual transmission?
