Paragon Performance has released an early technical evaluation of the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, focusing on the all-new 6.7-liter LS6 V8 and how its engineering changes translate into real-world dyno performance. After completing the recommended break-in procedure, the team subjected the car to multiple fourth- and fifth-gear dyno pulls, comparing its output against stock Stingray and Z06 baselines.

Initial testing highlighted the LS6’s sensitivity to intake air temperatures. Heat-soaked runs produced noticeably lower power figures, but after allowing the engine to cool, the Grand Sport delivered a corrected peak of 473 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque, with the team suggesting that cooler ambient conditions could push output closer to 480 wheel horsepower.

The LS6 introduces several key upgrades over the Stingray’s LT2, including a larger 6.7-liter displacement, a 13.0:1 compression ratio, and the addition of port fuel injection alongside direct injection. While the dual-injection system primarily addresses stricter emissions requirements by improving cold-start efficiency, it also provides greater flexibility for high-performance tuning, particularly with ethanol fuels and future forced-induction applications.

Using SAE correction, the Grand Sport recorded 466 horsepower and 469 lb-ft, compared with 424 horsepower and 410 lb-ft for a stock Stingray. Across numerous previous dyno tests, Paragon notes that an average Stingray typically produces 430-435 horsepower and 420-425 lb-ft, giving the Grand Sport an advantage of roughly 38 horsepower and 55 lb-ft of torque.

More significant than the peak numbers is the expanded torque curve. From approximately 2,500 rpm to redline, the LS6 consistently generates substantially more torque than the Stingray, delivering stronger acceleration throughout the rev range despite a slightly lower rev limiter around 6,300-6,400 rpm.

Compared with the high-revving flat-plane-crank Z06, which excels above 6,000 rpm, the Grand Sport emphasizes immediate low- and mid-range performance. The result is a Corvette engineered for effortless real-world acceleration, combining greater displacement, higher compression, and dual-injection technology to create a broader, more accessible powerband.
