The new 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray has wowed everyone, but even as people are still marveling over the car, they’re looking for the new higher-performance models. Well, the rumors abound. Some of the ones that are a little more promising point to the fact that the car might have a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 that will make 800 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque or more.
The rumors come from reporting on the upcoming car done by Automobile Magazine. Since then, the news has been reported on by several other outlets. Speculation abounds.
The rumors are that the Z06 will come in 2022, which would make sense. That would give the Stingray two years to do its thing and get the mid-engine car solidified in people’s minds. It would also give GM plenty of time to work the kinks out of the Z06 and tease the crap out of it. With as much as the car is hyped up, we expect GM to take full advantage of the attention by releasing several teasers.
While GM has yet to make it clear exactly what the Z06 will be, we’re certain it will blow other cars away, including the C8 Stingray and even the C7 Corvette ZR1. We can’t wait to see what Chevy will come out in the 2022 model year.
