CorvSport’s Exclusive Wholesale Market Report: Today’s Corvettes Do Not Disappoint

In this week's dealer-to-dealer wholesale auction report, we have two of our top dog sellers, and if you're looking for fun, they did not let us down!

We have an exciting one for you in this week’s exclusive dealer-to-dealer wholesale market report. Look at this mix of Corvettes, with one of our top sellers, GiveMeTheVin, bringing another classic old Vette to the wholesale auction. It’s rare to have a C3 sighting at these dealer-only auctions, so it will be interesting to see how it performs on the auction block! [Author’s Note: This wholesale market report is FREE and not behind a paywall. Yes, FREE! If/when any pop-ups appear, please click to dismiss them and continue enjoying the report. One may require two steps–first, the arrow on the left, then the x on the top right.]

Speaking of rare and one of the wholesale auction’s top sellers, GiveMeTheVin, check out this archived link from December 2024, when GMTV brought a gaggle of classic Corvettes to the wholesale auction and sold all of the antique Vettes we featured–yes, a 100% sales ratio! As mentioned, it’s rare to see the classic Corvette generations at these dealer-only auctions, which makes this highly successful sale from GMTV even more remarkable.

A Quick Review Of The Process:

In preparation for each installment, I start a list of Corvettes from that week’s runlist that catch my eye. As a retired owner/operator of a used car dealership, I’ll use my 17 years of experience (and industry access) to give you insights into the market. My search is focused on the nation’s largest dealer-only wholesale auction, and all the Corvettes featured are from the Florida market. Corvettes end up at a dealer-only wholesale auction for many reasons, but most are trade-ins that the dealer decided not to retail on their lot. Some may also be repossessions or coming off leases. It’s also common for dealers to dump problem (or slow-selling) units at an auction.

For Fun (and Insights):

Compare the MMR (estimated wholesale value) to the actual hammer price (if sold). It’s also interesting to compare the wholesale purchase price (if it sells) to the Cox Automotive estimated retail value, as this will give you an idea of the margins used-car dealerships are working with.

(Insights: While a decent-looking C3, this no-sale is not a surprise, as these dealer-only wholesale auctions typically don’t have dealers looking for old classic Vettes to throw on their retail lots. GMTV strikes out on this one.)

#6

2014 C7 Stingray Coupe 2LT

43,653 Miles

Condition Report: 4.7/5.0

Announcements:

Autocheck History Report: 4 owners, 0 accidents

MMR: $33,200

  • Last Year: $67,000 (6,543 mi)

Estimated Retail Value: $58,500

(Based on Cox Automotive retail transactions)

Auction Results: Sold for $58,000

(Insights: This is the first sale today from GiveMeTheVin, and she was a doozy, bringing near what Manheim estimates as the retail. In fairness to the winning dealer, this 1LT was LOADED up with options and aftermarket goodies!)

  • Last Year: $67,000 (6,543 mi)

Estimated Retail Value: $62,500

Auction Results: Sold for $59,000

(Insights: This Torch Red C8 is a looker, and was well bought. Although I do know that the front spoiler would last about one week if I owned her!)

#1

2025 C8 Stingray Coupe 2LT

2,239 Miles

Condition Report: 5.0/5.0

Announcements:

Autocheck History Report: 1 owner, 0 accidents

MMR: $75,800

(MMR=estimated wholesale value, based on vehicle, miles, condition, and recent auction sales)

Historical Wholesale Averages

  • Past 30 Days: $75,900 (2,056 average miles)
  • 6 Months Ago: Not available
  • Last Year: Not available

Estimated Retail Value: $76,600

(Based on Cox Automotive retail transactions)

Auction Results: Sold for $73,000

(Insights: I believe this may be one of the first 2025 C8s we’ve featured that has sold, and it’s no surprise this black beauty did! And at $2,800 under MMR, it was well bought by the new dealer.)

Summary: I told you this week’s Corvettes would not disappoint! These dealer-to-dealer auction sales are encouraging, especially with the internet chatter proclaiming the C8 market is slowing down. With 86% selling today and 100% in our last report, I would say the used Corvette market is doing just fine, as the dealers would not be buying more retail units if they were sitting on stale used inventory. And what a week for Texas Auto Value, with 100% of their Corvettes hammering off to new dealers. Thanks for joining CorvSport today, and we’ll see you in two weeks!
