1) 2026 Corvette ZR1X Pricing Announced, Along With A Special Edition

CorvSport’s Hot Take: Fresh off the heels of kicking some Mustang GTD arse at the ‘Ring, GM has released pricing and a new wild matte finish for the new 1,250 horsepower King of the Hill.

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “Chevrolet is starting the ZR1X at just over $200,000 for the coupe and just under $220,000 for the convertible.”
  • “There will also be a new limited-edition model called the ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition that will be launched during the 2026 Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week.”
  • “The Quail Silver Limited Edition comes in a special exterior color and a first for Corvette. Inspired by the Inca Silver offered on the 1957 to 1959 C1 Corvette, the car’s Blade Silver Matte paint is a modern approximation to the historic color.”

The Article From Motor Trend

It may be America’s supercar, but the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X is going to be “modestly” priced for its performance. Given its incredible output of 1,250 hp, claimed 2.3-second 0–60-mph time, the soul-stirring sounds its 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 makes, and the fact it has AWD due to a front electric motor, this Corvette could have asked for top-shelf Ferrari money. Turns out, Chevrolet is starting the ZR1X at just over $200,000 for the coupe and just under $220,000 for the convertible. But that’s not the only ZR1X news, as Chevy also announced a special edition.

As we said, with 1,250 hp on tap—and 145 lb-ft of torque ready to drive the front wheels as part of that combo—the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X could easily trip the million-dollar price tag, American made or not. Just look at its competitors in power and speed. The 2026 Ferrari F80 pushes out 1,184 hp and 749 lb-ft of torque with a 2.1-second run to 60 mph, and asks $3.7 million for the privilege. Then there’s the 2026 McLaren W1, the successor to the P1. Coming in at 1,258 hp and 988 lb-ft of torque, it will hit 60 mph in 2.7 seconds—and costs around $2.1 million…” READ MORE AT Motor Trend

2) The Corvette Versus Mustang Rivalry Is Sizzling!

CorvSport’s Hot Take: The Corvette and Mustang are acting like rambunctious kids again, and my daily rounds around social media indicate enthusiasts are LOVING it! See CorvSport’s original ‘Ring feature here.

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “The Ford Mustang GTD only held the record for the fastest American car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a little over 7 months. Ford announced a 6:57.685 lap back in December, and bettered it with a 6:52.07 a few months later…”
  • “Chevrolet just took the crown with the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X. Ford’s response? ‘Game on.'”
  • “We don’t know if Ford has anything planned. Farley surely wants to take back the record—he’s a racer himself and he’s pushing performance hard with the Mustang—but Ford isn’t going to go to the ‘Ring unless it knows it at least has a chance of beating the Corvette’s time.”

The Article From Motor1.com

The Ford Mustang GTD only held the record for the fastest American car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a little over 7 months. Ford announced a 6:57.685 lap back in December, and bettered it with a 6:52.07 a few months later, but Chevrolet just took the crown with the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X. Ford’s response? ‘Game on.’

That came directly from CEO Jim Farley, who replied ‘[c]ongrats to the Corvette team. Game on!’ on an Instagram post from the official Corvette page. The Drive was the first to bring our attention to Farley’s comment.

Ford could go back to the ‘Ring with the Mustang GTD, but that car is at somewhat of a disadvantage to the ZR1 and ZR1X. The Mustang GTD weighs over 4,300 pounds based on EPA documents that Road & Track reported on back in February, while Car and Driver measured the ZR1 at 3,831 pounds. Chevy hasn’t revealed a weight figure for the ZR1X, but it’s reasonable to expect it to eclipse the 4,000-pound mark…” READ MORE AT Motor1

3) Corvette Sales Are Slipping, Should We Be Worried?

CorvSport’s Hot Take: Rest easy, we are still kicking Porsche’s butt in the Premium Sports Cars segment, and interestingly, the second-place 911 is down 30% from Q2 2024.

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “In the United States, Chevrolet Corvette deliveries totaled 5,801 units in Q2 2025, a decrease of about 38 percent compared to 9,338 units sold in Q2 2024.”
  • “Just like in prior quarters (and years), Corvette sales continued to dominate the premium sports car segment in Q2 2025 when ranked by sales volume.”
  • “The 718 (née Cayman/Boxster) jumped 68 percent to 2,203 units. It was the only model here in the green.”

The Article From GMAuthority

Just like in prior quarters (and years), Corvette sales continued to dominate the premium sports car segment in Q2 2025 when ranked by sales volume. The Bow Tie brand’s mid-engine Vette has commanded this space for over a decade since we started tracking Chevy Corvette sales.

However, things didn’t look all that great for the Vette this quarter, as volume fell 38 percent to 5,801 units. It was followed by Porsche’s two entries in second and third place: the 911 (née Carrera/Targa) saw a 30 percent slide in sales to 3,338 units, while the 718 (née Cayman/Boxster) jumped 68 percent to 2,203 units. It was the only model here in the green. The two Mercedes-Benz AMG models were next. The AMG GT coupé took fourth with a 30 percent downturn to 734 units, while the SL-Class roadster was in fifth with a 43 percent decrease to 371 units. Note that the AMG GT Coupe and SL-Class are now the same car with different roof configurations, with the former having a hard roof and the latter getting a soft-top convertible. The Lexus LC placed sixth with a 43 percent dip for 271 deliveries. The remaining three – the Jaguar F-Type, Nissan GT-R, and Audi A8 – are on their way out and just selling off remaining inventory at this point.” READ MORE AT GMAuthority

4) How Wild Will The Next Generation Corvette Look?

CorvSport’s Hot Take: It seems like every time these design studios crank out some wild renditions, the chatter about them being the next generation ‘Vette ramps up! Will either of these concepts survive the bean counters?

California versus the U.K.! Image Credit: GMAuthority

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “One of the new concepts was sculpted in Southern California, while the other was shaped in the U.K., with both offering dramatic interpretations of the nameplate that explore what America’s sports car could look like.”
  • “Unlike its more theatrical California counterpart, the U.K. concept keeps things visually cleaner and more restrained. Of course, it isn’t totally retrained, with gullwing doors providing access to the low-slung cockpit, plus a pushrod suspension layout reinforcing its motorsport influence.”
  • “Both concepts showcase GM’s willingness to explore the boundaries of Corvette design, and while neither will hit showrooms, each concept teases potential directions the brand could evolve.”

The Article From GMAuthority

GM isn’t afraid to explore the extremes, especially when it comes to the Chevy Corvette. That includes vehicle styling, as evidenced by a pair of striking new Corvette-inspired concepts released these year. One of the new concepts was sculpted in Southern California, while the other was shaped in the the U.K., with both offering dramatic interpretations of the nameplate that explore what America’s sports car could look like. Though neither concept is destined for production, we want to know – which one looks better?READ MORE AT GMAuthority
