Listed on Cars & Bids, this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette stands apart from conventional examples thanks to an unusual one-off shooting brake conversion carried out sometime during the 1970s. Finished in a distinctive white-and-black exterior with a matching black interior, the car combines the unmistakable styling of the C3-era Corvette with bespoke bodywork and a selection of performance-oriented upgrades.
The most notable feature is its custom shooting brake configuration, which transforms the traditional two-seat sports car into a more practical, long-roof interpretation. The body has also been modified with a later C3-style nose, giving the classic Corvette a subtly updated appearance while retaining its period character.
Underneath, the Corvette has been equipped with hardware aimed at sharpening both its performance and driving response. Doug’s long-tube headers feed into a custom dual side-pipe exhaust system, while Bilstein dampers and 3-inch rear lowering bolts give the chassis a more purposeful stance. Ignition duties are handled by an MSD distributor, coil, and 6AL ignition box, complemented by an MSD Digital 2-Step Rev Control system that provides launch-control functionality.
Fuel delivery comes from an Edelbrock Performer 1406 650-cfm four-barrel carburetor, paired with Edelbrock rocker covers, while dual electric fans provide additional cooling capacity. The car rides on 15-inch slotted “mag” wheels and incorporates late C3-style seats inside. A Grant GT steering wheel fitted with a Corvette horn pad completes the cabin’s period-custom aesthetic.
Rather than being a conventional restored Corvette, this 1969 example represents a distinctly personalized interpretation of Chevrolet’s iconic sports car. Its rare shooting brake conversion, modified bodywork, upgraded chassis, and performance equipment make it an especially unconventional piece of Corvette history, blending classic American performance with the individuality of a 1970s custom build.
