A Closer Look At Corvette C8 Stingray R

The Corvette Stingray name first appeared in 1963, but it disappeared after 1976. It returned with the C8 in 2020, marking the first mid-engine Corvette. By 2022, Chevrolet began expanding the lineup, introducing special editions like the Stingray R—a package inspired by the C8.R race car.

This example is finished in Accelerate Yellow—a color no longer offered—and paired with an Adrenaline Red interior. The car also features the Z51 performance package and 3LT trim, which includes upgraded brakes, suspension, aerodynamics, and premium interior finishes. A front-axle lift prevents scraping, while black carbon flash metallic trim and badging tie the exterior design together.

The wheels are staggered, featuring 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, paired with Brembo six-piston calipers. Out back, the car features a glass engine cover, diffuser, quad exhaust outlets, and red badging unique to the Stingray R. The rear “basket handle” spoiler is functional but polarizing in design.

Power comes from the 6.2L LT2 naturally aspirated V8, producing 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque with the Z51 package. It’s paired exclusively to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Performance figures are strong: 0–60 mph in 2.9 seconds, quarter-mile in 11 seconds, and a top speed above 180 mph.

Inside, this car features the 3LT trim, which includes Adrenaline Red leather, carbon fiber accents, GT2 sport seats, and Bose audio. Additional features include an 8-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, and a 12.3-inch digital cluster with a head-up display.
