After the groundbreaking arrival of the eighth-generation Corvette—marking the long-awaited shift to a mid-engine platform and introducing a flat-plane crankshaft V8—the Corvette E-Ray made its debut for 2024. Positioned against the wave of modern hybrid supercars, the E-Ray takes a different route.

Instead of plug-in charging, it pairs a front-mounted 160-horsepower electric motor driving the front wheels with a mid-mounted LT2 V8. Together, they deliver a combined 655 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The result is blistering performance, with Chevrolet quoting a 0–60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds.

But the question is: how does it stack up against two of America’s most iconic muscle cars—the Dodge Challenger and the Chevrolet Camaro? The Challenger, with its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8, produces well over 700 horsepower, depending on the trim. There’s also the Camaro, powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 producing 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
