Doug DeMuro explores the hybrid powertrain and all-wheel-drive system behind the 2026 Corvette ZR1X, highlighting its extreme performance and unusual features. The car combines a twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor driving the front wheels, producing a total of 1,250 horsepower. This setup delivers all-wheel drive for improved traction and enables blistering acceleration, with 0–60 mph in about two seconds and a quarter mile in the mid-8-second range.

He points out several quirks, including engine-bay Easter eggs, a builder’s plaque, and unique badging. Despite its performance, the rear compartment still functions as a trunk, though access is limited by the large rear wing. The front trunk area is replaced by cooling hardware, even though the key fob still has a button to open it.

Inside, the updated cabin features premium materials, a squared-off steering wheel, and a mix of physical controls and screens. Performance-focused features include configurable drive modes, a dedicated Z mode button, launch control, and adjustable traction systems. The ZR1X delivers immense speed and grip while remaining usable on the road, making it one of the most extreme Corvettes ever built.
