Shawn Davis of AutotopiaLA visits a remarkable custom build from Old Anvil Speed Shop: a heavily reworked 1966 Chevrolet Corvette C2 owned by a Vietnam Veteran, who has had the car since 1989. After years of hard driving, the Corvette eventually sat unused until it was revived through a complete rebuild that turned it into a striking, driver-focused custom.

The restoration blends vintage character with modern performance. Power comes from a GM crate 454 big-block V8 producing roughly 450 horsepower, paired with a Tremec TKX five-speed transmission and 4.11 gearing. Electronic fuel injection via a Holley Terminator X system improves drivability while maintaining a period-correct look.

The car rides on the original independent rear suspension geometry, upgraded with stronger components, QA1 shocks, and refined chassis tuning. Classic 15-inch American Racing wheels and modern radial tires preserve an old-school aesthetic. Bodywork was extensively reworked to fit the wheels perfectly and sharpen the Corvette’s lines.

Inside, the cabin features Apex leather, Dakota Digital gauges, and subtle modern touches while retaining a vintage feel. On the road, the big-block delivers the raw sound and torque expected of a classic Corvette, while the suspension and steering upgrades make it far more capable and enjoyable to drive.
