Naturally, the Corvette professionals at CorvSport are not encouraging dropping LSD or any similar substance, but how can an enthusiast look at this wild 1969 Stingray and not think of the crazy days of the 1970s? And, of course, no judgment if you like to partake–I was once a carefree college student (albeit in the 80s!). [Author’s Note: This article is FREE and not behind a paywall. Yes, FREE! When Kevin L., out of the great state of Pennsylvania, recently posted his customized C3 Stingray on social media, the response was nothing short of “that’s trippin’ yo.” Just how crazy has the response from the C3 community been? How does 1400+ reactions, 345+ comments, and 48+ shares sound? Remarkably, Kevin has owned this custom gem since 1980, and I must say, he is aging just as well as the trippy creation he acquired 45 years ago.
The Original Post:
“I recently reactivated my FB account and started following this group. Here is my 69 that was customized in 1972. The car survived the psychedelic era of the 70’s. I have owned the car since 1980. The work that went into this car is amazing! I realize the folks that like all original rides will hate the car and the customization. I have tried to preserve a car from short time period in the 70’s.”
C3 Corvette Stingray 1968-1973 is a vibrant public Facebook group with over 81,000 members. To join in on the fun, all you need is a Facebook account (which is free). You can click here to engage with Kevin and the rest of the C3 community!
Let’s take a look at the pictures Kevin shared, then some of the Facebook posts that made this viral post worth the visit.
This interior is the showstopper!
It looks just as sharp under the hood.
Large or small, this creation is going to bless any car show with its uniqueness! Coincidentally, all three of these belong to Kevin.
Kevin shared a photo from before the custom paint and finishing touches.
Even better, Kevin has some photos directly from the 70s!
The plot thickens… Kevin’s Stingray was the featured 1969 car for Carlisle 2019.
The Community Sentiment & Highlights
♦ A lava lamp reference, this guy gets it!
♦ The acid reference didn’t take long, nor did Kevin’s clarification of the paint.
♦ It’s the real deal, not retro!
♦ Wow, Kevin met the painter, and this was a $12,000 paint job in 1972!
Lastly, Kevin notes that over the last 45 years, the car has received its share of negativity. However, the response from this C3 Facebook community was mostly positive and respectful.
