1) Holy Flip-Attempt Batman! Dealer Asking $500,000 For 2025 Corvette ZR1

CorvSport’s Hot Take: If you thought the Covid-Era markups on the C8 Stingray, and then subsequently the C8 Z06, were nuts, sit down for the price hikes on the 2025 ZR1!

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “A California dealer wanted a staggering $500,000 for a 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, proving that the C8’s legendary performance is being overshadowed by outrageous pricing and persistent sales calls.”
  • I received a quote from the dealer listing the yellow ZR1 for $500k. It is noteworthy that they mention having higher offers, yet they reach out to me daily to gauge my interest in moving forward,” – Bill Young, Facebook
  • “This kind of pricing abuse isn’t new, but its persistence reveals something darker. In 2020, C8 Stingrays were fetching $20–30K over sticker before the paint was dry. When the Z06 arrived, six-figure markups were common. And now, as the ZR1 prepares to enter production, some dealers aren’t just inching past MSRP, they’re launching it into orbit.”

The Article From TorqueNews

The Chevrolet Corvette has long stood as America’s last great equalizer in performance driving, a fiberglass rocket designed to embarrass Europe’s best without requiring a second mortgage. It was raw, loud, and gloriously brash. But now, as the 2025 Corvette ZR1 looms on the horizon with its twin-turbo LT7 engine rumored to produce nearly 1,000 horsepower, that dream has curdled into something grotesque. What was once the attainable American supercar has become a commodity traded on showroom floors by salesmen more interested in margin than motorsport…” READ MORE AT TorqueNews

2) Whoops, Sorry 2025 ZR1 Owners…

CorvSport’s Hot Take: Sit tight and be patient if you had a 2025 ZR1 on order, because it’s likely yours may actually be a 2026 model.

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “GM Authority has learned that GM will be unable to build the full 2025 Corvette ZR1 production volume.”
  • “The trouble began shortly after order books opened. GM accepted a total of 310 orders for the 2025 Corvette ZR1, but due to supply constraints on the carbon fiber aero package, every one of these orders was immediately put on hold.”
  • “With the 2026-model-year transition scheduled for Monday, August 4th, GM is running out of time to complete the remaining 245 units.”

The Article From GMAuthority

General Motors unveiled the 2025 Corvette ZR1 last July, pulling the sheets on a twin-turbocharged monster making over 1,000 horsepower and promising some very juicy performance stats. While Corvette fans are likely eager to see this thing finally roll out, it’s looking like the C8 ZR1 launch isn’t exactly going as planned, at least not from a production standpoint. In fact, GM Authority has learned that GM will be unable to build the full 2025 Corvette ZR1 production volume…” READ MORE AT GMAuthority

3) Buckle Up! The Corvette Badassery Doesn’t End With The ZR1X

CorvSport’s Hot Take: Oh dear lawd, how is GM going to outdo themselves and top 1,250 horsepower?!? What an exciting time to be an enthusiast!

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “Corvette enthusiasts who think the ZR1X is the peak of performance when it comes to the mid-engine C8 platform may be in for a surprise.”
  • “Per a recent report from Top Gear, comments made by Corvette chief engineer Tony Roma hint at something even more astounding on the way. During an interview, Roma highlighted the ‘super capable’ C8 platform, but stated that ‘the ZR1X is not the end of the story, it’s just the latest chapter…’”
  • “’The team that works on it has a very ‘what can we do, and how can we do it?’ Attitude,’ Roma said. ‘They see possibilities and not challenges.’”

The Article From GMAuthority

Corvette enthusiasts who think the ZR1X is the peak of performance when it comes to the mid-engine C8 platform may be in for a surprise.

Per a recent report from Top Gear, comments made by Corvette chief engineer Tony Roma hint at something even more astounding on the way. During an interview, Roma highlighted the ‘super capable’ C8 platform, but stated that ‘the ZR1X is not the end of the story, it’s just the latest chapter.’

‘The team that works on it has a very ‘what can we do, and how can we do it?’ Attitude,’ Roma said. ‘They see possibilities and not challenges.’

Of course, it’s going to take a pretty big opportunity to top the new C8 ZR1X. With the twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 LT7 gasoline engine behind the cabin and an electric motor up front, the ZR1X makes 1,250 horsepower and scrambles to 60 mph in less than two seconds, sprinting down the quarter mile in less than 9 seconds at more than 150 mph.

Top speed testing for the ZR1X is still pending. While Roma believes it could approach the ZR1’s 233-mph top speed, he emphasized that these numbers are primarily for bragging rights, given the extreme lengths required to actually hit 233 mph legally and safely…” READ MORE AT GMAuthority

4) Did You Know The Father Of Our Corvette Only Personally Owned One?

CorvSport’s Hot Take: I was surprised to learn this when I initially did a CorvSport NCM feature on this rare 1974 Stingray–see our full feature here. Now, Car and Driver is picking up the ball and highlighting the NCM exhibit that opens next month.

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “Zora Arkus-Duntov, father of the Corvette, only ever owned one Vette.”
  • “A 454 Stingray in two-tone blue, it’s been preserved by the National Corvette Museum and is debuting as an exhibit next month.”
  • “As the museum celebrates its 31st anniversary, this is a chance to get up close with Arkus-Duntov’s personal Corvette.”

The Article From Car and Driver

Summing up the career and influence of Zora Arkus-Duntov isn’t easy, but there is one footnote that neatly illustrates his character. In 1954, a year after he’d convinced GM to hire him on as an engineer, you’d find him behind the wheel of a Porsche 550 RS Spyder at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking a class victory there. He did it the next year too. This obsession with speed gave him the drive to handle the complex internal politics at GM, and he carefully shepherded the Chevy V-8 and the Corvette into the two performance icons they are today. However, he personally only ever owned a single Corvette…” READ MORE AT Car and Driver

5) Will The ZR1 & ZR1X Break The All-Time Nurburgring Time?

CorvSport’s Hot Take: Enthusiasts are on pins and needles waiting for the official ZR1 and ZR1X Ring times, but Corvette’s executive chief engineer Tony Roma says slow your roll and recently is quoted as saying, “I wish the car was that fast. I’ve seen so many things online, but just stay tuned.”

Key Talking Points Directly From The Article:

  • “‘It’s more difficult than it’s even been to set a record at the ring. They charge you a lot of money to talk about it, and they want to have certified timing and scoring,’ Roma explained. ‘You have to rent the track, get the safety marshals, pay the licensing fee, pay the filming fee. And if your day rains, oh well. We are not based in Stuttgart, so we can’t just go back next week. That’s why you haven’t seen us set a lap record attempt.'”
  • “Roma said he wanted to ‘wait until you have a story that’s worth telling.’ Though it seems unlikely that the ZR1 will defeat the AMG One, there is another important car that Chevy hopes it can take down: the Ford Mustang GTD. For reference, the GTD became the fastest American production car to lap the Nordschleife when it set a 6:52.072 time earlier this year.”
  • “‘You can see the effort Ford had to put into the GTD,’ Roma hinted. ‘And they had to go back twice to get decent weather. All I can say is, stay tuned. We did go and drive around the Green Hell, and we’re pretty proud of how the car did. And so, we’re going to release more details when the time’s right. Very soon, very soon.'”

The Article From CarBuzz

General Motors recently posted a teaser from the Nürburgring, showing the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 setting a lap time. Speculation has already run rampant, with a former Corvette engineer even predicting the 1,064-horsepower ‘Vette would be within a shout of breaking the production car lap record around the famous racetrack in Germany. Speaking with the current executive chief engineer for Corvette, however, it seems we may need to temper our expectations…” READ MORE AT CarBuzz
