Is The 2025 C8 ZR1 A True Track Monster?

In his newest video, Wheeler takes his ZR1 to Sebring International Raceway with Performance Driving Group for a track day. This is the same C8 Corvette ZR1 that raced against a Lamborghini Revuelto and a Tesla Model S Plaid on the drag strip, as featured on the DragTimes YouTube channel.

Before taking the track, he clarifies upfront that he’s not a pro driver—just someone out to enjoy the car within his limits. While not aiming to set records, he emphasizes the importance of driving performance cars instead of letting them sit in garages. He ran in the intermediate group and jumped straight into the action. His best lap in the first session was a 2:21, just 8–9 seconds off the pace of a McLaren Senna driven by a professional, despite running on Michelin 4S tires and being inexperienced.

In session two, he recorded a 2:22.6 lap, hindered by traffic. Despite not pushing the limits, he consistently identified areas for improvement, particularly in braking zones and corner entries. He estimates that a pro driver with better tires could shave 8–10 seconds off his time, possibly beating the Senna.

He praises the car’s track performance, noting that it exhibits no overheating, stable handling, and excellent braking. The PTM sport mode provided enough electronic assistance to keep things safe without interfering too much. Fuel consumption was high—about a full tank per 30-minute session at ~3.7 MPG.
