Featured in Motor Trend and formerly owned by the founder of the Vintage Corvette Club of America, this 1957 Chevrolet Corvette is currently offered for sale through SBX Cars with the odometer showing 58,361 miles.
Finished in Venetian Red with Polo White coves over a red interior, this example is one of only 182 examples produced for the model year equipped with the Rochester fuel-injected 283-cubic-inch V-8 rated at 250 horsepower. The 1957 model year is widely regarded as the high point of the first-generation Corvette, retaining the clean, elegant design introduced in 1956, including exposed headlights without stone guards, recessed taillights, and the signature 13-tooth chrome grille.
While the styling carried over, the most important changes were mechanical. Engine displacement grew from 265 to 283 cubic inches, delivering a meaningful increase in performance, further elevated by the optional Rochester Ramjet fuel injection fitted to this car. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3-speed manual transmission.
The Corvette is accompanied by a removable red hardtop that matches the exterior finish. The red interior features desirable factory options, including a heater and radio. A Wonderbar radio is mounted above the large central tachometer, and the original radio is also included in the sale. Period-correct details are completed by optional wide whitewall tires mounted on steel wheels with full covers featuring simulated knock-off hubs.
