Mat Watson Reviews The New Corvette E-Ray In The UK

The Corvette E-Ray has arrived in the UK and Mat Watson from carwow takes a look at it. It is currently the quickest-accelerating Corvette in Europe until the upcoming ZR1 arrives. The E-Ray starts around £150,000 in the UK, above the Stingray and below the Z06.

It features sharp, aggressive styling, real front vents, optional carbon splitters and skirts, carbon wheels, and the wide body from the Z06. At the back, it has a large spoiler and quad exhausts, with the outer pipes showing more heat discoloration.

Power comes from a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, combined with an electric motor on the front axle for all-wheel drive. Total output is 644 hp and 778 Nm. Corvette claims 0–60 mph in 2.5 seconds and a 10.5-second quarter mile.

Mat Watson’s testing didn’t quite match those figures. Their best runs were about 2.9 seconds to 60 mph and just under 11 seconds in the quarter mile. Even after race driver Oliver Gavin tweaked custom launch settings, the standard launch control remained the fastest method. The difference largely came down to Corvette using a U.S. one-foot rollout in its claims; without rollout, Corvette’s numbers align with the independently tested 2.9-second result.
