2013 C6 Corvette Grand Sport
The sixtieth-anniversary Corvette was the last of the C6, and Chevrolet gave it a send-off in the tradition of the 1982 Collector Edition, the 1996 Grand Sport and the 2004 Commemorative Edition: the 427 Convertible Collector Edition, revealed at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale in January 2012 and on sale that summer at $76,900. It was the first Corvette convertible with the Z06’s hand-built 7.0-liter LS7, 505 hp and 470 lb-ft with the dry-sump oiling system, mated to the Z06’s six-speed manual (no automatic), on the Grand Sport’s steel frame with the Z06 and ZR1’s wide carbon-fiber fenders, a carbon-fiber raised hood, carbon floor panels, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, 19 x 10 and 20 x 12-inch Cup-style wheels on the ZR1’s Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires, a ZR1-style spoiler, a rear-mounted battery and 427 hood badges; 3,355 pounds, 3.8 seconds to 60, 11.8 in the quarter, 1.04 g and more than 190 mph by Chevrolet’s figures. It outsold the standard convertible three to one: 2,552 were built, 19 percent of the year, in every 2013 color, 1,088 of them with the 60th Anniversary package and 691 with the 427 Heritage Package (Z27, $1,195) of satin-black hood stripe and 427 floor mats.
The 60th Anniversary Design Package (RPO Z25, $1,075, requiring 4LT, 3LZ or 3ZR) could go on any 2013 Corvette: Arctic White paint, a Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior with blue stitching and suede on the wheel, shifter, brake handle, armrests and doors, 60th logos on the wheel caps, steering wheel and headrests, a ZR1-style spoiler, gray calipers, body-color door handles and a blue top on convertibles; the Z30 stripe package ($750) added Pearl Silver Blue full-length stripes and, on convertibles, tonal stripes stitched into the top. 2,059 cars had Z25 and 1,753 had the stripes. Every 2013, package or not, carried 60th badges on the fascias, the convertible waterfall, the gauge cluster and the sill plates. The rest of the changes were small: Night Race Blue Metallic replaced Carlisle Blue and Black returned; black-painted wheels (Q8B, QZW, Q7Z, Q6U) replaced the Competition Gray ones on every model; the ZR1-style spoiler (T43, $350) was available on all; the Z06 added a spider-design black wheel and the ZR1 a machined Cup wheel with gray pockets; the power passenger seat became standard; 2LT gained the cargo net and shade. Prices rose $75 to $50,575, $55,575, $56,975, $60,575, $76,575 and $112,575 including the $975 destination charge. Engines, transmissions and chassis were unchanged, Z07 and PDE continued with their Cup tires, and 23 Z06 and ZR1 buyers built their own engines at Wixom.

The C6 Corvette Grand Sport Buyer’s Guide
The C6 Grand Sport is the C6 most people should buy, and the site has said so for years: the Z06’s wide body, brakes, wheels and tires on the durable 430-hp LS3, a manual or an automatic, a coupe or a convertible, four years and about 28,000 cars. It has none of the LS7’s valve-guide history and costs less than a Z06 with it.
The one to find is a manual coupe, because those got the dry-sump LS3 built at Wixom; a 3LT or 4LT car with the leather-wrapped interior holds up best. Convertibles and automatics are cheaper and just as good on the road. The 2011–13 cars have the latest updates; the 2010 is the first-year bargain.

| 2010 | 6,042 | $55,720 / $59,530 | 430 hp | First year, 6,042 built; the bargain. |
| 2011 | 7,994 | $55,740 / $59,550 | 430 hp | The biggest year (7,994); the most choice. |
| 2012 | 7,324 | $56,900 / $60,500 | 430 hp | The Centennial Edition and the 4LT leather-wrapped interior; the best interior. |
| 2013 | 6,644 | $56,975 / $60,575 | 430 hp | The last year and the 60th Anniversary package; the last-year premium is small. |
What a C6 Corvette Grand Sport Costs Today
Auction and dealer results the site has tracked, by year; check whether a result includes the buyer’s premium, and treat asking prices and unsold high bids separately from completed sales.
The 2011 Grand Sport trades with the 2010 and for the same reasons, Z06 hardware on the LS3 at a coupe-and-a-half price, and the 2011 adds the option of Magnetic Ride (F55 on the label) to the dry-sump manual coupe (Z52) as the spec to look for. The standard coupe and convertible, 3,892 of them, are the cheapest 2011s and the ones most often sold with a Grand Sport conversion.

How to Verify a C6 Corvette Grand Sport
The VIN positions, the labels, the stampings and the parts that prove a C6 Corvette Grand Sport is what it claims to be, from the year pages, year by year; where a later year repeats an earlier one, only what is new is added.
2010: Verifying a Grand Sport: the fifth VIN character is P–T (manual) or U–X (automatic), not A–H, and the console label shows Z16 with the equipment group, PYC/PYD/PYE wheels and, on a dry-sump manual coupe, Z52 and MZ6. A coupe wearing Grand Sport fenders and wheels with an A–H VIN is a conversion.
2011: Verifying a Carbon Limited Edition: the VIN is 1G1YL2DE?B56 followed by 0001 to 0252, nothing else qualifies, and the console label shows ULZ, Z07, CFZ, 3LZ and Q6U. A Grand Sport has P–X in the fifth position and Z16 on the label, with Z52 on a dry-sump manual coupe, F55 if it has Magnetic Ride and Z15 with a stripe code for the Heritage Package; an A–H VIN wearing Grand Sport fenders is a conversion.
2012: Verifying a Centennial Edition: it has no VIN marker, so the service parts label is the proof: ZLC, F55, paint 58U, the RUL, RUM or RUR wheel code and 38S. A Grand Sport has P–X in the fifth VIN position and Z16 on the label, a ZR1 T in the eighth and an 800xxx number, a Callaway B2K on the label and a Callaway serial plaque under the hood and on the fenders.
2013: Verifying a 427 Convertible: the VIN reads 1G1Y73DE?D57 followed by a 00001–02552-range number, a 7 in the fifth position and E for the LS7; the car has the Z06/ZR1 wide carbon fenders, the raised carbon hood, 427 hood badges, 19/20-inch Cup wheels, gray calipers, a ZR1-style spoiler and the dry-sump tank where a Grand Sport convertible has none. A Grand Sport convertible with an LS7 swap is not a 427 and its VIN says so.

2010: Inspection: the Grand Sport’s LS3 has no valve-guide history, so the list is the C6 general one plus the Grand Sport’s own, the dry-sump tank and lines on Z52 coupes (check the level routine and for leaks at the fittings), the 325 rear tires that wear fast, the chrome wheels that pit and the Z06-size brakes that are expensive to replace; the electronic column lock, roof-panel bond, power top, 6L80 shift quality, NPP actuators, headlamp yellowing and the foam-in-place dash panels that can bubble at the edges apply to all. A 2010 Grand Sport coupe with Z52, 3LT and NPP is the pick of the LS3 C6s.
2011: On every 2011 the electronic column lock, roof-panel bond and power top, 6L80 shift quality, NPP actuators, headlamp yellowing and the foam-in-place dash and door panels that bubble at the edges apply, and on the Grand Sport the dry-sump tank and lines on Z52 coupes, the 325 rear tires and the chrome wheels that pit. The 2011 Grand Sport coupe with Z52, F55, 3LT and NPP is the most complete LS3 C6 yet.
2012: On every C6 the electronic column lock, roof-panel bond, power top, 6L80 shift quality, NPP actuators, headlamp yellowing and the dash and door panels that bubble, now leather-wrapped on the Centennial and 4LT cars and better for it. The 2012 Centennial Grand Sport coupe with the manual, Z52 and 3LT is the best-equipped LS3 C6 and the one most likely to hold its value.
2013: A 3LT Grand Sport coupe with the manual, Z52 and Magnetic Ride still the best-value C6.

What Goes Wrong: The C6 Corvette Grand Sport’s Known Issues
The faults a C6 Corvette Grand Sport is known for, the years they affect, what they look like and what the fix is. None of them should stop a purchase; all of them should be on the checklist, and a car with the paperwork for them is the one to buy.
| ISSUE | YEARS | WHAT HAPPENS | THE FIX |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electronic column lock | 2010–13 | Less common than on early C6s but still on the list. | Ask whether the update or a bypass is done. |
| Roof-panel bond (coupes) | 2010–13 | The removable panel’s bond to its frame can separate. | Check the panel for play; the recall covered earlier years. |
| 6L80 automatic | 2010–13 | Shift-quality complaints answered by software updates. | Drive it; check for the updates. |
| Dry-sump lines (manual coupes) | 2010–13 | The dry-sump tank and lines on the Wixom cars weep on some. | Check the level hot and running; look for staining. |
| NPP exhaust actuators | 2010–13 | The dual-mode exhaust valves stick or rattle. | Listen at idle; cheap to fix. |
| Headlamps, dash and door panels | 2010–13 | The lamps yellow; the dash and door panels bubble on the base interiors. | Cosmetic; the 4LT leather-wrapped interior is the cure. |
| Wheels and tires | 2010–13 | The 19 x 12 rears get curbed; the original PS2 tires age out before they wear out. | Inspect; check date codes. |
The C6 Corvette Grand Sport Options and Editions That Matter
What moves the price of a C6 Corvette Grand Sport beyond mileage and condition: the packages, the equipment groups and the special editions, and what each does to the value.
MORE: THE SPECIAL EDITIONS / MSRP BY YEAR
| OPTION OR EDITION | WHY IT MATTERS | WHAT IT DOES TO THE PRICE |
|---|---|---|
| Manual coupe (dry-sump LS3) | The Wixom-built engine with the dry sump and the wider rear fenders. | The collector’s Grand Sport; a modest premium. |
| 3LT / 4LT equipment groups | The full interior; the 4LT’s leather-wrapped dash and doors. | Expected on the best cars; 4LT holds up best. |
| Heritage Package (Z15) | The fender hashes and the two-tone seats. | The signature look; a small premium. |
| Centennial (2012) and 60th (2013) packages | Carbon Flash with the satin-black wheels; Arctic White with the 60th stripes and the blue interior. | A modest premium. |
| Convertible | About a third of production; the top is powered and reliable. | Level with or a little under the coupe. |
| Magnetic Ride (F55) | The adaptive dampers. | Worth having; no clear premium. |
What a C6 Corvette Grand Sport Costs to Own
The Grand Sport is the cheapest wide-body Corvette to own: the LS3 is a wet-sump (or Wixom dry-sump) pushrod V8 any shop can service, parts are shared with every C6 and the only Z06-sized bills are the 325-section rear tires and the big brakes. Fuel economy is the C6’s 26 mpg on the highway.
Insure it as a used car; the Centennial and 60th cars and low-mileage manual coupes are worth an agreed value.

What is a C6 Corvette Grand Sport worth today?
See What to Pay in the buyer’s guide above: the site’s tracked auction and dealer results by year. The figures move, and the for-sale feed shows asking prices now.
Why was the C6 Grand Sport so popular?
It gave the Z06 look and chassis — the wide fenders, the brakes, the 275/325 tires — with the base LS3, an automatic and a convertible, for about $10,000 less than a Z06; it outsold the base coupe in 2011 and 2012.
Which C6 Grand Sports have the dry-sump engine?
Manual-transmission coupes only: they got the Z06’s dry-sump LS3 and the Z06’s steel frame rails and rear cradle for track use; automatics and convertibles had the standard wet-sump engine.
Did the C6 Grand Sport have special editions?
The 2013 60th Anniversary Design Package (Arctic White with Blue Diamond interior) and the 2013 427 Convertible was a Grand Sport convertible with the Z06’s LS7; the 2012 Centennial Edition was available on it as well.
Which C6 Grand Sport year is best?
A 2012–13 for the 4LT interior and the last updates; a 2010–11 for the price. All have the same LS3 and the same chassis.
Is the C6 Grand Sport better than the Z06?
For an owner, usually: it has the Z06’s chassis and looks on an engine with no valve-guide history, a convertible and an automatic are available, and it costs less. The Z06 has 75 more horsepower, the aluminum frame and the collector interest.
What should I check on a C6 Grand Sport?
The column lock, the roof-panel bond, the automatic’s shift quality, the dry-sump lines on a manual coupe, the exhaust actuators, the headlamps and dash, and the rear wheels for curb damage.
