The C8 Corvette ZR1X Story
The ZR1X: 1,250 Horsepower
Chevrolet revealed the ZR1X on June 17, 2025, named with a letter rather than the “Zora” the rumors had used for years, and built, in Ken Morris’s words, because “from day one, we designed the mid-engine Corvette architecture with ZR1X in mind.” It is the ZR1 and the E-Ray in one car: the twin-turbo LT7 at 1,064 horsepower driving the rear wheels and the E-Ray’s permanent-magnet motor over the front axle, uprated to 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft and spinning to 17,000 rpm, for 1,250 horsepower and 973 lb-ft with nothing connecting the axles but software, the most powerful car General Motors has built. Under two seconds to 60 mph, under nine seconds at more than 150 mph in the quarter, 233 mph, and 1.0 g braking and cornering at once on the standard J59 Alcon brakes, ten-piston fronts on 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors, the largest ever on a Corvette. It was priced at $207,395 in August 2025, about 270 were built in the 2026 model year on their own 900001 VIN series, the one-of-one Stars & Steel ZR1X brought $2,605,000 for charity at Barrett-Jackson in January 2026, and a ZR1X paced the Indianapolis 500 on May 24, 2026.

2026 Corvette ZR1X
Chevrolet revealed the ZR1X on June 17, 2025, eleven months after the ZR1, and named it with a letter rather than the Zora the rumors had used for years: a standalone model, not a package, built — in Ken Morris’s words — because from day one, we designed the mid-engine Corvette architecture with ZR1X in mind. It is the ZR1 and the E-Ray in one car: the ZR1’s hand-built 5.5-liter twin-turbo LT7 at 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft driving the rear wheels through the strengthened eight-speed dual-clutch, and the E-Ray’s single permanent-magnet motor over the front axle driving the fronts — uprated to 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft by raising the usable share of the unchanged 1.9-kWh battery 29 percent and its peak voltage and spinning the motor to 17,000 rpm — for 1,250 horsepower and 973 lb-ft with nothing connecting the two axles but software, the most powerful car General Motors has built. GM’s figures are under two seconds to 60 mph, under nine seconds at more than 150 mph in the quarter, 233 mph, and 1.0 g braking and 1.0 g cornering at once; the J59 brake package of Alcon ten-piston front and six-piston rear calipers on 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors — the largest ever on a Corvette — is standard, with the ZR1’s body, cooling and aero, a strut-tower brace, a carbon-fiber display hood over the new three-screen interior, and the ZTK package (carbon aero, stiffer springs, Cup 2 R tires) optional. It was priced in August 2025 at $207,395 for a 1LZ coupe and $217,395 for the convertible, $218,395 and $228,395 as 3LZs, including $1,995 destination, plus a $2,600 gas-guzzler tax, and went up $2,200 during the year; the Quail Silver Limited Edition — a 3LZ convertible in Blade Silver Matte, the first factory matte paint on a Corvette in about sixty years, with the Sky Cool and Medium Ash Gray interior with Habanero accents — was $241,395 and is thought to number fifty to seventy-five.
About 270 ZR1Xs were built in the model year by the unofficial VIN count, in their own series from 900001 with R in the fifth position of the VIN. The one-of-one Stars & Steel ZR1X in Dark Satin Steel brought $2,605,000 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale on January 24, 2026; a black coupe sold for $365,000 on Bring a Trailer in March, Quail Silver No. 19 for $452,000 in May; a ZR1X paced the Indianapolis 500 on May 24, 2026, and the car’s powertrain won a Wards 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems award in October. It is the quickest Corvette there has been, and the top of the range the C8 began in 2020.

2027 Corvette ZR1X
The ZR1X carried into 2027 unchanged — the 1,064-horsepower twin-turbo LT7 and the 186-horsepower front e-axle for 1,250 horsepower and 973 lb-ft, the J59 Alcon brakes on 16.5-inch carbon-ceramics, under two seconds to 60 mph, 233 mph — with a new price: $227,395 for a 1LZ coupe and $237,395 for the convertible, $238,395 and $248,395 as 3LZs, including the $2,495 destination charge and before the $2,600 gas-guzzler tax, $17,800 over the 2026’s launch price. Forty-eight were built in the first three weeks of 2027 production, a quarter of them with the 91 ZR1s and 241 Z06s making up the supercar share of the mix, and the ZR1X stayed the one C8 that leaves the dealer above its sticker: a 19-mile 2027 ZR1X brought $102,000 over its window price on Bring a Trailer in October 2026, and the site’s for-sale coverage had 2027 ZR1X coupes and convertibles at Mecum and on the auction sites through the autumn. The ZR1X paced the 2026 Indianapolis 500 as a 2026; whether the 2027 pace car is a ZR1X, a Grand Sport or something else is announced in the spring.

The C8 Corvette ZR1X Buyer’s Guide
The ZR1X is the 1,250-hp car — the ZR1’s twin-turbo LT7 with a 186-hp front motor on the E-Ray’s battery — and in 2026 it is the newest and most expensive Corvette, selling above its sticker at auction and at dealers. There is no used-car history yet; buying one is a question of the allocation, the spec and the premium.
Treat it as a new car with a new car’s questions: the build sheet, the invoice and the dealer’s markup, the campaign history by VIN (it shares the Z06 and ZR1 fuel-system recall), and whether the carbon wheels and the ZTK package are on it. The 2027 pace-car year adds the Indianapolis cars to the list.

What a C8 Corvette ZR1X Costs Today
Auction and dealer results the site has tracked, by year; check whether a result includes the buyer’s premium, and treat asking prices and unsold high bids separately from completed sales.
The ZR1 in its first full year has a Classic.com benchmark of $294,306 (October 2026) for the 2026 alone — Bring a Trailer sold a 9-mile 3LZ for $320,000 on July 31, 2026, Mecum Nashville passed one at $250,000 in September, and dealers ask $249,000 to $320,000 against $193,395 to $203,395 new — and the ZR1X, with no benchmark yet, has sold for $365,000 (a black coupe, Bring a Trailer, March 2026), $452,000 (Quail Silver Limited Edition No. 19, three miles, with a $290,678 window sticker, May 2026) and $315,000 (a 1,200-mile coupe its owner had bought for $256,325), with a Stars & Steel ZR1X coupe pulled at $300,000 and a 2027 ZR1X sold $102,000 over sticker in October 2026; the one-of-one Stars & Steel ZR1X brought $2,605,000 for charity at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale on January 24, 2026.

2026: For a 2026 the questions are the new ones: the three-screen interior’s software (Google built-in; the first year), the electrochromic roof if fitted, and on the ZR1X the J59 brakes, the battery’s state of health and whether the car is one of the Quail Silver or Stars & Steel editions — the Quail Silver (3LZ convertible, Blade Silver Matte, the EMT interior) and the twenty-five Stars & Steel ZR1s are the rarities, and the registry numbers above are the only counts until the Museum’s sheet.

What Goes Wrong: The C8 Corvette ZR1X’s Known Issues
The faults a C8 Corvette ZR1X is known for, the years they affect, what they look like and what the fix is. None of them should stop a purchase; all of them should be on the checklist, and a car with the paperwork for them is the one to buy.
| ISSUE | YEARS | WHAT HAPPENS | THE FIX |

| First-year everything | 2026– | The LT7, the hybrid front drive and the calibration are all in their first year together. | Buy from a dealer that will stand behind the updates; keep the warranty intact. |
| Fuel-system recall | 2026 | Shared with the Z06 and ZR1. | Confirm by VIN. |
| Carbon-ceramic rotors and carbon wheels | 2026– | Standard and optional respectively; the most expensive consumables in the range. | Weigh and inspect. |

| Dealer markups and the resale policy | 2026– | The highest markups of any Corvette; GM’s early-resale warranty policy may apply. | Know the sticker; confirm the warranty by VIN. |

What a C8 Corvette ZR1X Costs to Own
The ZR1X costs what a ZR1 costs plus the hybrid system: the dry-sump LT7, the dual-clutch service, the carbon-ceramic rotors, the carbon wheels and the tires. Dealers service it; insure it on an agreed value, because nothing else will replace one.

FAQs
What years was the C8 Corvette ZR1X made?
2026–2027, 2 model years, and it is still in production. The ZR1’s 1,064-hp twin-turbo V8 with the E-Ray’s front electric motor: 1,250 horsepower, all-wheel drive, 0–60 in under two seconds and the quarter in the eights, from $207,395.
How many C8 Corvette ZR1Xs were built?
270 by GM’s counts.
How much horsepower does the C8 Corvette ZR1X have?
LT7 5.5-liter twin-turbo flat-plane V8 (1,064 hp) plus a 186-hp front electric motor; 1,250 hp combined. 1250 horsepower
How fast is the C8 Corvette ZR1X?
2026: 0–60 in 1.9 s, 233 mph (GM’s figures or the period tests; the Compared page has them all).
How much did the C8 Corvette ZR1X cost new?
2026: $182,395; ZR1X $207,395 · 2027: $197,195; ZR1X $227,395. The MSRP by Year page has every year in today’s dollars.
What is a C8 Corvette ZR1X worth today?
See What to Pay in the buyer’s guide above: the site’s tracked auction and dealer results by year. The figures move, and the for-sale feed shows asking prices now.
Is the ZR1X the fastest Corvette ever?
The quickest: GM quotes 0–60 in under 2 seconds and the quarter mile in under 9, and it lapped VIR in 2:08.6 — the fastest production-car lap there. The ZR1 remains the top-speed car at 233 mph; the ZR1X’s electrified front axle is geared for acceleration.
How does the ZR1X’s hybrid system differ from the E-Ray’s?
The same layout — a motor on the front axle fed by a battery between the seats — but a stronger 186-hp motor, a bigger inverter and software that uses the front axle for launch, torque vectoring and a Push-to-Pass boost; it also brakes by wire with the carbon-ceramic brakes standard.
What did the first ZR1Xs sell for?
The one-of-one Stars & Steel ZR1X brought $2,605,000 for charity at Barrett-Jackson in January 2026, and early cars traded well above the $207,395 sticker through the spring; the Values table has the results the site tracks.
How much over sticker is a ZR1X?
The first cars sold for well over their $207,395-and-up stickers at auction in 2026, with the limited editions far above that; the site’s wholesale and auction reports track every sale.
Is the ZR1X the one to buy?
It is the fastest and the most expensive; the ZR1 has the same engine and the Z06 most of the experience for far less. Buy the ZR1X for the car it is, not as an investment the first year can promise.
What should I check on a ZR1X?
The campaign and warranty status by VIN, the build sheet against the car, the carbon wheels and rotors, and the dealer’s record of the first-year updates.
