The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R takes to the track in a recent video from Paragon Performance, with professional racing driver Nicky Catsburg demonstrating the capabilities of the competition-bred machine during a series of touring laps at NCM Motorsports Park.
Developed by Chevrolet and Pratt Miller Engineering, the Z06 GT3.R represents the racing evolution of the mid-engine C8 Corvette platform. Built to compete in international GT3 championships, it combines the fundamental architecture of the road-going Z06 with extensive modifications designed for endurance racing, including revised aerodynamics, competition suspension, enhanced cooling, and specialized drivetrain components.
At its center is a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated LT6 V8 featuring dual overhead camshafts, a flat-plane crankshaft, and dry-sump lubrication. Sharing more than 70 percent of its components with the production Z06 engine, the racing powerplant produces approximately 500–600 horsepower, depending on Balance of Performance regulations. Power is transmitted through an Xtrac six-speed sequential racing transaxle, providing rapid gear changes and the durability required for sustained competition.
The Z06 GT3.R retains the C8’s aluminum chassis architecture, reinforced with a competition-specification steel roll cage and dedicated safety equipment. Its double-wishbone suspension receives adjustable racing dampers, springs, and revised geometry, while six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers provide the stopping performance required on demanding circuits.
Aerodynamic development includes a prominent rear wing, redesigned underbody, functional cooling ducts, and lightweight carbon-fiber bodywork, balancing downforce, stability, and thermal management.
