The fastest Corvette of any kind is still a 1988 model. The Callaway Sledgehammer, a twin-turbo C4 built in Old Lyme, Connecticut, was driven to Ohio’s Transportation Research Center, ran 254.76 mph, and was driven home again. Thirty-eight years later no production Corvette has matched it, and Chevrolet has yet to run the ZR1X flat out.
