Base Corvette Coupe (1YY07)

  • The base price of the 2005 Chevy Corvette Coupe without any optional equipment.
  • A 364 cubic inch (6.0L), 400 Horsepower V-8 engine, 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, stereo CD with MP3 capability, leather seats, 6-way power driver seat, active handling, traction control, dual-zone electronic air conditioning, keyless access and start, foglamps, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, tire pressure monitor, and floor mats were all included in the base price.
  • The standard engine for 2005 Corvettes was the 400 horsepower LS2, a 4th generation Chevy small block engine. The engine displacement increased from 346 cubic inches (5.7 liters) to 364 cubic inches (6.0 liters) by enlarging the bore from 3.9 inches to 4.0 inches. The LS2 featured numerous refinements including increased camshaft lift, a higher compression ratio (10.9:1), lighter exhaust manifolds and a wingless aluminum oil pan that improved oil control during high G-force driving while reducing oil capacity from 6.5 to 5.5 quarts with filter. Redline for the LS2 was 6,500rpm, compared to the LS1’s 6,000rpm.

Dual Removable Roof Panels – Coupe (C2L)

  • Two removable roof panels – color matched and transparent.
  • Although the Corvette coupe came equipped with the painted roof, this option allowed consumers to purchase both the fiberglass and the lexan roof tops. Both tops came fully equipped with all weatherstripping and hardware to properly fit/secure them to the car.

Removable Roof Panel (Transparent) – Coupe (CC3)

  • Optional transparent removable roof panel.
  • All Corvette coupes came equipped with a color matched roof panel. Consumers who wished to purchase the transparent panel in place of the color matched (painted fiberglass) roof panel could do so for an additional cost.
  • The transparent roof panel was made out Lexan and included all the same weatherstripping, mouldings, latches and hardware as the color matched, fiberglass top.

Power Convertible Top (CM7)

  • Optional drive assembly to automate the convertible top on the 2005 Corvette.
  • The CM7 Power Convertible Top was the first power top offered as an option on the Corvette since 1962.
  • Note: Included a monitor switch in the trunk of the Corvette to identify the top’s status during operation. In some instances, this switch could get out of alignment causing the automatic convertible top to stop operating.

Magnetic Selective Ride Control (F55)

  • An adjustable ride control system for varying driving conditions.
  • Magnetic Selective Ride Control was available with the coupe or the convertible, but not with the Z51 package.
  • The Magnetic Selective Ride Control system uses a suspension fluid that, when a magnetic field is applied to it, will actually become more rigid, resulting in a firmer suspension and vehicle ride.
  • Optimal for performance driving conditions.

Performance 3.15 Axle (with Automatic Trans.) (G90)

  • Optional upgrade of the factory standard 2.74 Rear Axle Ratio.

Engine 6.0 Litre V-8 (LS2)

  • The LS2 was the most powerful standard small-block engine offered (to date) in Corvette.
  • All-new 319-T5 aluminum deep-skirt block casting with cast-in-place iron cylinder bore liners and cross-bolted main caps.
  • Cylinder head design derived from the C5 Z06.
  • Camshaft lift increased to take advantage of increased head flow.
  • Revised exhaust manifolds are 34 percent lighter.
  • Compression raised to 10.9:1.
  • More powerful engine controller incorporates all electronic throttle control (ETC) functions

Tremec Six-Speed Manual Transmission (MM6)

  • The Tremec six-speed manual features improved shifting characteristics thanks to numerous upgrades, including new synchronizers that reduce travel by 10 percent, and a redesigned shifter lever.
  • The Tremec is available with two sets of ratios. The more aggressive gear set is reserved for Corvette’s Z51 Performance Package and is tailored with numerically higher gears to improve acceleration. Also, a numerically lower fifth gear gives the Z51 better fuel efficiency and a higher top speed than base models.
  • To increase durability in sustained high-speed situations, the Z51 and the base European manual-transmission models have a transmission cooler.

Four-Speed Automatic Transmission (MX0)

  • Electronically controlled 4L65-E automatic transmission.
  • The 4L65-E transmission was a stronger version of the C5’s 4L60-E transmission.
  • The four-speed automatic transmission was a no cost option.
  • Features an electronic controller with a performance shift algorithm which adapts to the operator’s driving patterns.
  • The Hydra-Matic 4L65-E automatic transmission is an upgraded version of the C5’s 4L60-E, strengthened and revised to accommodate the LS2’s torque. It includes GM’s advanced Performance Algorithm Shifting, which automatically selects the optimal gear for a given driving condition.

Polished Aluminum Wheels (QG7)

  • Polished finish on 5-spoke aluminum factory wheels.
  • Wheel size was 18×8.5 inches in the front, 19×10 inches in the rear. Tire size was P245/40ZR-18 in the front; P285/35ZR-19 in the rear. Standard tires were Goodyear Eagle F1 EMT.

Competition Gray Aluminum Wheels (Gray) (QX1)

  • Painted finish on 5-spoke aluminum factory wheels.
  • Wheel size was 18×8.5 inches in the front, 19×10 inches in the rear. Tire size was P245/40ZR-18 in the front; P285/35ZR-19 in the rear. Standard tires were Goodyear Eagle F1 EMT.

Corvette Museum Delivery (R8C)

  • New Corvette owners could opt to pick up their car at the National Corvette Museum.
  • When selected, the Corvette is diverted from the ordering dealer and delivered to the Museum.
  • Once the new Corvette arrives at the Museum, the new owner journeys to Bowling Green where they enjoy the VIP treatment for a full day with private tours of the Assembly Plant and the Museum.
  • The NCM Xperience is a similar activity for those who already have their Corvette but want to enjoy the unique VIP treatment.

OnStar System (UE1)

Performance Package (Z51)

  • The Z51 Performance Package included specific springs, shocks and stabilizer bars, larger cross-drilled brake rotors, engine oil, transmission and power steering fluid coolers, Goodyear Supercar EMT asymmetrical tires. It also included quicker gear ratios for the 6-speed manual transmission, or the G90 3.15 Performance Axle on the automatic transmission.
  • The Z51 Performance Package initial option cost was $1,495 compared to 2004’s Z51 package price of $395, but also included considerably more equipment.

Notes

  • First year for the C6 (sixth-generation) Corvette.
  • The 2005 Corvette retained the C5’s front-engine, rear-transmission layout, but its body and interior were new, most chassis parts were re-engineered, and nearly all of the car’s dimensions were changed.
  • The car is capable of 186 mph (300 km/h), faster than any production Corvette in history. It reaches zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds, and in 4.1 seconds with the optional Z51 Performance Package, and covers the quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds at 114 mph (183 km/h).
  • The C6’s length was reduced by 5.1 inches and the width reduced by 1.1 inches. The wheelbase increased 1.2 inches to 105.7 inches.
  • The 2005 Corvette was the first model to feature exposed headlights since the 1962 model. It used Xenon high intensity discharge low-beam projector lenses, and tungsten-halogen high-beam projectors under clear polycarbonate covers. The covers also included parking lights, side-turn markers and daytime running lights, all set into body-color housings.
  • The 2005 Corvette coupe was introduced at the Detroit International Auto Show in January, 2004. The 2005 Corvette convertible was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in March, 2004.
  • The 2005 Corvette had keyless access and start. A standard key was issued for the glovebox, console and emergency entry, but normal door lock/unlock and push-button starting were activated by key fob proximity.
  • A red 2005 Corvette convertible paced the Indianapolis 500 on May 29th, 2005.
