Listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette convertible combines the iconic styling of the second-generation Corvette with a thoroughly modernized chassis, powertrain, braking system, and cabin. Completed in 2017 by Classic Corner Garage of Mesa, Arizona, the frame-off custom build has accumulated approximately 1,000 miles since completion.
The C2 Corvette debuted for 1963 under the direction of Zora Arkus-Duntov, introducing dramatically revised styling by Larry Shinoda and Peter Brock along with significant chassis improvements. Today, C2 examples remain among the most collectible Corvettes, while their mechanical architecture makes them popular foundations for high-performance restomods.
For this build, the fiberglass body was removed from the original frame, stripped, refinished in Atomic Orange, and paired with black accents on the stinger-style hood. Exterior equipment includes a front spoiler, black soft top, black bumperettes, flip-up headlamps, fender vents, and quad exhaust outlets.
Underneath, the original chassis was replaced with a custom unit from Weld County Kustomz of Apache Junction, Arizona. The updated platform incorporates C7-specification suspension hardware with QA1 coilovers at all four corners, power rack-and-pinion steering, and Baer tie rods. Braking is upgraded with Z06-sourced hardware, including slotted and drilled rotors and body-color calipers with Corvette lettering. Black 19-inch front and 20-inch rear C7 Z06-style wheels are wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires.
The cabin has been comprehensively reworked with Saddle leather upholstery covering the bucket seats, center console, and door panels. Modern conveniences include Vintage Air climate control, a period-style Bluetooth audio receiver, an analog clock, multi-point Sparco harnesses, and an OBDII port. A leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of Dakota Digital retro-style instrumentation featuring a 160-mph speedometer, tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.
Motivation comes from a 6.2-liter Chevrolet Performance LS3 crate V8 installed in 2017. The engine features a “Hot Cam” camshaft, cold-air intake, long-tube headers, custom EFI, retro-style valve covers, and a remote-operated Billy Boat dual-mode exhaust. Cooling is handled by a high-flow aluminum radiator with a 3,000-cfm electric fan.
Power reaches the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission and a Dutchman 9-inch independent rear axle equipped with a limited-slip differential and 3.70:1 gearing.
