The Story of Velocity Yellow
Velocity Yellow arrived late in the 2005 model year as a solid paint (760 cars) and became an extra-cost tintcoat for 2006 — $750, later $850 and $995 — when the 505-horsepower Z06 made it famous. It was the color of the Z06 launch, of the Hertz ZHZ rental coupes of 2008 (500) and convertibles of 2009 (375), and of 77 of the 2009 GT1 Championship Edition cars.
The best years were 2006 to 2008, around 4,000 cars a season; it fell under a thousand a year after 2009 and finished with two C7 years at about 2,100 each. Corvette Racing Yellow replaced it for 2016. It is the most common yellow on a C6 and the easiest to find on a Z06.
