The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe remains one of the most recognizable expressions of the second-generation Corvette, distinguished by its divided rear glass and advanced mechanical specification. This particular example, currently offered through Bring a Trailer, combines the iconic C2 design with the desirable fuel-injected L84 327 V8 and a four-speed manual transmission.
Finished in its original Daytona Blue, the Corvette was refurbished between 2007 and 2011. The work included repairs to the fiberglass body, renewed chrome and exterior trim, and replacement rocker moldings. Its factory-inspired presentation is complemented by 15-inch steel wheels with three-eared knock-off-style spinner covers, Michelin whitewall tires, concealed headlamps, fender vents, and quad tail lamps.
The cabin is trimmed in dark blue vinyl, with the seats, door panels, carpeting, headliner, and other interior components replaced during the refurbishment. Equipment includes an AM/FM radio, heater, analog clock, and lap belts. The five-digit odometer displays approximately 82,000 miles, while the 160-mph speedometer was rebuilt in 2007.
At the heart of the car is Chevrolet’s 327-cubic-inch L84 V8, equipped with Rochester mechanical fuel injection and a high-lift camshaft. Factory output was rated at 360 horsepower, making this one of the more performance-focused engine configurations offered in the 1963 Corvette. The engine stamping corresponds with the chassis serial number, while the RF suffix identifies the 360-horsepower manual-transmission specification.
The chassis benefits from the C2’s fully independent suspension, featuring unequal-length control arms at the front and a three-link rear arrangement with a transverse leaf spring. Four-wheel drum brakes remain faithful to the period specification. Earlier refurbishment work included rebuilding the control arms, steering components, brake backing plates, and shocks.
Adding significant provenance, the Corvette earned an NCRS Top Flight award in 2017 with an impressive 99.7 judging score. With refurbishment documentation, matching identification details, and its highly sought-after L84 fuel-injection package, this split-window coupe represents a particularly well-documented example of Chevrolet’s landmark 1963 sports car.
