Base Corvette Sport Coupe (1YY07)

  • The base price of the 1993 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe without any optional equipment.
  • A 350 cubic inch, 300 horsepower engine, 4-speed automatic transmission, removable body-color roof panel, and black cloth seats were included in the base price.
  • The base engine for the 1993 Corvette was the LT1, a new generation small block. In 1993 Corvettes, the engine developed 300 horsepower (net) at 5,000 rpms. The engine torque was rated at 340 lbs. -ft at 3,600 rpm. Three changes were made to the engine to make it quieter. First, the heat shield design changed from a single-piece stamping to a two-piece sandwich type that was self damping. Second, new thermostat polyester valve covers with “isolated” mounts replaced 1984-1992 magnesium covers. These covers were isolated from the heads by a gasket in the normal location, but also by gaskets under the heads of mounting hardware. Third, the LT1 camshaft exhaust lobe profile was modified to reduce the exhaust valve closing velocity. Also, a shortening of the inlet duration permitted more duration of the exhaust so there was no increase in overlap area. Emissions and idle quality were not adversely affected.
  • The 1993 Corvette was the first automobile sold by General Motors to feature a passive keyless entry (PKE) system.
  • The front wheels on the 1993 Corvette were reduced from 9.5 x 17 to 8.5 x 17 and the front tire sizes from P275/40ZR17 to P255/45ZR17. Rear tire size was increased from P275/40ZR17 to P285/40ZR17.
  • Although same in design as the previous year, the 1993 Corvette’s wheels had a different surface appearance due to a change in machine finishing.

Low Tire Pressure Warning Indicator (UJ6)

  • Sensors strapped to each side of the inside of each wheel sent a radio signal to a instrument-panel receiver if pressure in any tire dropped below a preset limit.
  • This option was included as part of the ZR1 package.

Stereo System, Delco-Bose (UU8)

  • 200 watt Delco Bose AM/FM stereo radio with cassette.
  • A power delay feature was added to all models which permitted the stereo system and power windows to operate after the ignition was switched to “off” or “lock”. Power was cut after the driver’s door was opened or after 15 minutes, whichever came first.
  • The AM band for radios was expanded to receive more frequencies.

Stereo System with CD, Delco-Bose (U1F)

  • To discourage theft, the CD player required an electronic security code input after battery disconnect.

  • ZR1 optioned Corvettes were fitted with special Goodyear Z-rated P315/35ZR17 tires that were mated to 11-inch wide rear rims.

  • Additionally, the six-speed manual transmission (MN6) was required.
  • Horsepower increased for the optional ZR-1’s LT-5 engine from 375 horsepower to 405 horsepower. This increase was the result of modifications to the cylinder heads and valve train. Other changes included 4-bolt main bearings, a Mobil-1 synthetic oil requirement, platinum-tipped spark plugs, and an electrical, linear exhaust gas recirculation system for improved emission control.

  • The ZR1 option was only available in the coupe bodystyle.
