That Racing Channel showcases a heavily modified 2005 C6 Corvette engineered around an unconventional 20B three-rotor powertrain. Originally a base-model automatic, the Corvette has been comprehensively reworked for drifting, retaining little of its factory specification beyond the core structure.
At the center of the build is a turbocharged Mazda 20B three-rotor engine assembled by Pulse Performance in New Zealand. A Garrett G45-1500 turbocharger helps the rotary produce approximately 900 wheel horsepower, while a Quaife sequential six-speed gearbox replaces the Corvette’s original transaxle arrangement. Power is transferred through a Winters quick-change rear end, a configuration that also helps shift mass forward and optimize the chassis for controlled oversteer.
Cooling has been upgraded with a PWR air-to-water charge-cooling system, which reportedly delivered a 100-horsepower gain over the previous air-to-air intercooler through improved airflow. The car also features lightweight carbon-Kevlar bodywork, a dry-sump system, rear-mounted cooling hardware and a Haltech ECU managing the engine electronics.
Although designed primarily as a drift car, the Corvette is taken to the OG Battlegrounds airstrip for its first serious straight-line testing. The team conducts rolling and standing launches despite the chassis, gearing and tire setup not being optimized for drag racing.
The Corvette ultimately records a 127-mph quarter-mile run while continuing to spin its tires, demonstrating the unusual balance between its extreme power output and drift-focused setup. Subsequent testing sees the car reach roughly 120 mph while maintaining its trademark sideways behavior, highlighting the versatility—and sheer intensity—of this unconventional rotary-powered C6.
