To truly appreciate the scale of this massive gathering, we have to look back at the history of the show, notably how over five decades ago, two self-described “car crazy guys” were told their 1954 Corvette was “not old enough” to be included in a popular car show in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Carlisle’s co-founding father, Bill Miller Jr., summed up that shocking experience by saying, “The Hershey show was our favorite thing to do all year, we were disappointed that we could not participate with what we considered to be an old car.” Defiant and driven by passion, they founded their own event—and the rest is history.
