We know most enthusiasts can’t make the pilgrimage to Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, for the world’s largest Corvette show, so our team combs the internet so you can feel like you were at this iconic yearly show without physically attending. It’s hard to capture every facet, but we feel today’s Corvettes at Carlisle story will do the show justice! To truly appreciate the scale of this massive gathering, we have to look back at the history of the show, notably how over five decades ago, two self-described “car crazy guys” were told their 1954 Corvette was “not old enough” to be included in a popular car show in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Carlisle’s co-founding father, Bill Miller Jr., summed up that shocking experience by saying, “The Hershey show was our favorite thing to do all year, we were disappointed that we could not participate with what we considered to be an old car.” Defiant and driven by passion, they founded their own event—and the rest is history.

Decades after that fateful rejection, the 2026 event proved that Corvettes at Carlisle still hits the community harder than ever. This year, the legendary event didn’t just maintain its status as the world’s largest Corvette show; it shattered expectations by setting an all-time record of 3,239 registered Corvettes packed onto the Fun Field. When you factor in the thousands of single-day spectators and enthusiasts who paid to park, the overall presence easily surged past 5,000 Corvettes representing every single generation of America’s classic sports car. Walking through the gates, the sheer volume of fiberglass, carbon fiber, and rumbling V8 engines creates an overwhelming sense of awe that still puts smiles on enthusiast faces, whether they drove their classic C1 from across the state or flew in from across the globe.
2 — Let CorvSport Walk You Around The Action
If you couldn’t make the trip this year, grab a drink and let CorvSport walk you around the show grounds to take in the sights. The energy at the Carlisle Fairgrounds is electric, blanketed by the distinct smell of tire rubber and detailing spray. Your virtual tour starts at the sprawling automotive flea market, widely recognized as the largest all-Corvette marketplace on the planet, where buyers hunt for rare parts, vintage literature, and elusive memorabilia.
Just a short walk away, the loud screech of high-performance rubber draws crowds to the autocross tracks, where drivers push their machines to the absolute limit. The ground literally shakes as modified monsters attack the tight corners, treating spectators to a masterclass in American engineering and precision driving.

3 — Engineering Insights And Next-Gen Power
Moving toward the heart of the fairgrounds, the focus shifts to groundbreaking performance and future automotive design. Attendees crowded around the stage for the highly anticipated Chevrolet engineering team presentations, where Corvette Chief Engineer Josh Holder and Product Marketing Manager Austin Fiser spilled incredible technical details. The team celebrated the 30th anniversary of the production Grand Sport by detailing the heavily discussed 535-hp naturally aspirated LS6 V8 engine coming to the 2027 Stingray, Grand Sport, and electrified 721-hp Grand Sport X. Enthusiasts geeked out hearing about its massive 13:1 compression ratio, a unique Tri-Y exhaust manifold, a center-exit exhaust option, and new rear aluminum air deflectors thoughtfully engineered to keep the spark plug wires cool during intense track driving.

4 — The Unforgettable Downtown Parade And Celebration
As the sun dips below the horizon, the energy of the fairgrounds seamlessly transitions into the community for the legendary downtown Carlisle parade and party. Hundreds of Corvettes leave the facility to line the historic downtown streets, creating a miles-long sea of shining paint and roaring exhausts. Thousands of local residents and visiting enthusiasts pack the sidewalks, cheering as everything from pristine Mid-Year fuelies to radical new mid-engine C8s rev their engines in celebration. It is a beautiful reminder that Corvettes at Carlisle is far more than a simple automotive exhibition; it is an enduring family reunion that bonds generations of enthusiasts together.

♦ GM’s HIDDEN Grand Sport X & GS FLEET at Carlisle 2026: Preview From Brink of Speed:
“This year at Corvettes at Carlisle, I found something I look forward to tracking down every single year… the hidden fleet of Corvettes driven to the event by GM engineers!
And for 2026, they brought an absolutely incredible collection of 2027 C8 Grand Sports and Grand Sport Xs.
Hidden away from the main display was a massive lineup featuring nearly every available exterior color, tons of different interior combinations, wheel choices, brake setups, options and configurations. There were around a dozen Grand Sport Xs alone, giving us a rare opportunity to see these cars configured in ways you normally wouldn’t get to compare side-by-side.
And there were a few BIG surprises mixed into the group. 👀
One of the cars was equipped with the Z07 package, and nearly every Grand Sport in the lineup featured the new center-exit exhaust. GM even brought along a Stingray equipped with the center-exit exhaust, giving us another great look at one of the biggest changes coming to the C8 lineup.

Mike Furman of Criswell Chevrolet—better known throughout the Corvette world as “Corvette Furman”—is back at Carlisle for his 44th Corvettes at Carlisle, and there may be no better person to take us behind the scenes of one of the biggest Corvette gatherings on the planet. Widely recognized as the world’s #1 Corvette salesman, Mike has now delivered an incredible 7,000 Corvettes as of May 26, 2026, a milestone so remarkable that it even earned him a personal letter from General Motors CEO Mary Barra. Yet, despite all those Corvettes and four decades of Carlisle memories, Mike’s enthusiasm for the cars and the people who love them remains as strong as ever.
Once again, Mike was on the ground at the Fairgrounds capturing some of his favorite Corvettes, reconnecting with longtime friends, meeting new ones, and giving us a firsthand look at the people and cars that make Carlisle such a special event. And as you’ll see from some of the photos he shared, Corvette Furman isn’t just a familiar face in the community—he’s a genuine rock star among Corvette enthusiasts.

7 — The Full Corvettes At Carlisle Story
Our Founding Fathers: A Retrospective By Bill Miller Jr.
“At the Hershey show in 1973 Chip Miller and I, two car crazy guys, were asked to bring a car to the Milestone Car Society booth as an attraction for this fledgling car club to attract people to their booth. Chip owned a 1954 Corvette that he wanted to sell so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to sell the car. We were eventually told by officials of the event that the car was not old enough to sell and that we had to remove it from the grounds. We were shocked that an almost-20-year-old car was not considered an old car. We did not know that at that time an antique car was to be 35 years old or older. We were not even that old at the time so we had a hard time relating to a car that was made before we were born. As the Hershey show was our favorite thing to do all year, we were disappointed that we could not participate with what we considered to be an old car.
As we removed the car from the grounds, we discussed the fact that it was a shame that there was not a place to take old cars – at least ones that we thought were old – to show and sell. The more we talked about it, the more excited we became about having an event like that. As time went on we decided to each put up $500 and give the car show for newer cars a try. We checked out many venues and decided that the Carlisle Fairgrounds was the perfect location because of the central location in the state and the fact that three major highways intersected close by. Postwar ’74 was born the week before the Hershey meet, and everyone came to see what it was all about. We had no restrictions as to what you could show or sell and the event took off from the start. We not only got the late model hobbyist but everyone who liked cars came as well.
The Growth of Carlisle Events
By the following year no one called it Postwar ’74 anymore; it just became known as Carlisle. Carlisle ’75 and ’76 grew by leaps and bounds and the idea came to us to duplicate the show for the spring season too. Spring Carlisle ’77 worked as well as the previous fall event so we were on our way to another show. In 1980 the shows became sellouts and, as a result, we started another event in the summer to take vendors who could not get into the spring or fall shows. This time we rented another location to hold the event as the price of the Carlisle Fairgrounds was continually going up. Summer Carlisle ’80 was held at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show facility in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The show drew a different vendor and spectator than we had at the fairgrounds thus creating a new market for the entire family, not just the man and occasional lady friend, but men, women and children.
The following year was a turning point for the Fleamarketeers (as were known then) because we were able to purchase the Carlisle Fairgrounds. From this time on we were able to design the fairgrounds for the car shows since we no longer had to comply with the previous owners’ wishes. We took over the Carlisle Fair for the next three years and finally gave it to the local agriculture extension office who eventually moved it to another location. This was the final step in the process to make the fairgrounds the perfect facility for car shows. Over the next few years buildings were built, roads were paved, electricity was updated and permanent bathroom facilities were enhanced and built. A food court was added and food vendors expanded their menus. We have continuously tried to make this facility better for the shows.
Chip was always “Mr. Corvette” so the addition of the next event was Corvettes at Carlisle ’82. This show grew at an amazing rate as the world was ready for a huge Corvette event. It soon became the world’s largest Corvette event and still holds that title today. Chip was the master at knowing the Corvette world inside and out and always added new and exciting features to the show.
It was only natural since spring and fall were always sellouts that other shows would follow. Soon there was Import, Chrysler, Truck, Ford, Performance and Style, and GM. The summer show always had a lot of motorcycle vendors and it eventually became Carlisle Bike Fest. Select show names, dates, and locations have changed over the years but the fun at Carlisle forges on. In fact, we’ve seen such a demand in “ready to show,” or “ready to drive” collector cars that we’ve expanded our offerings to include multiple collector car auctions to our annual schedule. These auctions include two in Carlisle (in conjunction with the Spring and Fall events) and two standalone auctions in Lakeland, Florida; one in late fall and the other in late winter. The Passing of a Best Friend and Partner
As you can see, many changes took place at Carlisle from our first event in 1974 though the addition of Bike Fest in 2002. Sadly my best friend and partner Chip passed away in 2004. He loved cars and most of all he loved the people that the cars brought together. Chip’s love for the Corvette enhanced the Corvette world more than he ever could have imagined. As Chip expanded the Corvette show, he got his son Lance involved, and he too became as fascinated with the Corvette as Chip was. There were big shoes to fill when Chip passed away but Lance jumped right in and promised to carry on where his dad left off. The Corvette show still grows each and every year with Lance at the helm.
A New Beginning
Lance and my son Bill III were employees of the fairgrounds for many years in their younger lives but each of them went their own way and were successful in different careers. When Chip passed away Lance came back to the fairgrounds immediately to step in and help me with all the duties of Carlisle Events. When our CEO left the company, I asked Bill III if he would be interested in becoming a senior manager with Lance. They would be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company along with me thus giving me more time to spend with many of the non-profit operations that Carlisle Events feels are so important to our community. Bill jumped at the chance and they are now adding the excitement of younger, enthusiastic car guys who want to take the shows to the next level.
Every day they are putting their past show knowledge, along with the experience they gained while pursuing their own careers, to work to make Carlisle the best it can be. New people have been added, ideas are flowing, and this can only be the beginning of the new Carlisle Events.
