The 1969 Chevrolet Corvette represented the second model year of the third-generation C3, retaining the dramatic styling introduced in 1968 while incorporating several subtle updates. Among the most recognizable changes were the new Stingray badges mounted on the front fenders above the side louvers. The name also returned to Corvette after a one-year absence, although Chevrolet now presented it as the single word “Stingray” rather than “Sting Ray.”
For 1969, the standard Corvette engine grew to a 350-cubic-inch V8, while Chevrolet continued to offer a formidable range of 427-cubic-inch big-block options. At the top end was the legendary L71 Tri-Power, equipped with three Holley two-barrel carburetors and factory-rated at 435 horsepower. This example, currently listed for sale on Bring a Trailer is powered by that highly desirable L71 engine, making it one of the more performance-focused configurations available during the C3’s early years.
Finished in Cortez Silver, the coupe combines its distinctive exterior with green leather upholstery. Its equipment includes removable roof panels, concealed headlamps, a driver-side mirror, power windows, chrome bumpers, and side-exit exhaust outlets. The car rides on 15-inch Rally wheels fitted with stainless-steel trim rings and center caps, wrapped in 225/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes, while a Positraction differential helps transmit the engine’s output to the rear wheels.
Inside, the two bucket seats are trimmed in green leather and complemented by matching door panels and carpeting. The cabin retains the period-correct character of the C3 while offering practical amenities such as a heater, AM/FM radio, analog clock, power windows, and lap belts. The driver faces a three-spoke steering wheel surrounding a 160-mph speedometer and tachometer marked to a 6,500-rpm redline. Chevrolet also positioned dedicated auxiliary gauges in the center stack to monitor fuel level, battery charge, oil pressure, and coolant temperature.
